Do you know the saying - there is more than one way to skin a cat?

The photo has nothing to do with the text. It's one Vince took. The saying - there is more than one way to skin a cat - means there is usually more than one way of doing something or getting something done. I decided to change my profile photo and noticed that my birth date is wrong. I thought I had fixed it but every time I change ’28’ to ‘29’, it reverts back to ‘28’. So I messaged admin who said it was a glitch. I need to type in ‘30’ and it will then show ‘29’. I can’t help finding this a bit hilarious. It’s like the programme is showing me who’s boss. A little display of passive-aggression. We had a slightly similar situation years ago when we paid all our bills by cheque (check, checking account). We often used the last cheque then would have to anxiously wait for a new book to arrive in the mail. We solved the matter by using cheques from the back of the book first and working towards the front. This ensured that a new book was sent out well before we got to the end of the 25 cheques.

I used to do the same with cheques. I said in a post the other night about there being more than one way to skin a cat I think

I went looking to see if there was a reason behind the saying but it seems there isn't.

That really is an odd glitch about your birth date. My checks last a long time now since I do everything online through my bank except for a few checks that have to be mailed. My problems is with stamps. I do so much online that I never remember to get stamps when I'm down to the last one or two.

When we used two cheques in two years, we decided it was time to give up the cheque book.

My cat says quit talking about skinning cats. That is funny about not putting in the right age. That is a strange glitch! Good technique with the checks!

@CinnamonGrl It's a silly saying really, isn't it? I don't think cats were ever skinned for hats or whatever. Perhaps they were but I just don't know about it.

@JudyEv I find it interesting that admin knows about the glitch, but doesn't (or can't) fix it.

Glad you like the photo. It's a crazy glitch, isn't it? I write in 29, save, check - it's the 28th. Write in 29, save, check, it's the 28th. It's so funny.

That's funny. What if your birthday becomes 30 when the admins eventually fix the glitch? Edit: This kinda reminds me of the Mahatma Gandhi bug in the original Sid Meier's Civilization game where the Gandhi AI was supposed to be very peaceful and hates war, until his civilization researches democracy and goes out to war with nukes! It was a glitch in the code where his aggressiveness value was supposed to be zero, but because democracy gives -10 aggressiveness, the zero will be reset to the highest value -10.

No-one would ever think to write 32 to get 31. I guess players were a bit surprised by the sudden change of attitude by the Gandhi Al.

@JudyEv You bet they did! Everyone thought it was so funny that the makers of later Sid Meier's Civilization games made it a feature of every future Gandhi AI instead.

That was a great method to deal with ordering cheques. Would you believe that I still pay certain bills with a cheque. My rent. Soon I will also need to order cheques -- the current bunch has lasted me 5 + years though. Wow. Great photo, and I like your new profile photo, too.

The same thing happened when I tried to edit my birth date..I wrote 28, but next time I opened my profile it said 27. I thought that I had chosen the wrong date by mistake, but it happened again. I fixed it when I wrote 29

Next thing you know, Cat Lives Matter will be protesting against the phrase “more than one way to skin a cat.” That’s cool that you automatically get new checks when you use the last one. I have to order mine through the credit union, so if I run out it’s my own fault. Of course, as few as I write anymore, I’m pretty sure the box I have is going to last me well into my 70s (I’m 60 now).

Yes, that means the same thing. I suppose there are dozens of such sayings. I thought there might have been a reason for the saying but it seems not. It just appeared in a story or whatever back in the 1800s.
