Brutal squirrel attack leaves The Horse in the hospital.

As many of you know, I try to be one with all things. Up in Montana, I planted some bulbs in memory of my graduate advisor, Dr. Daphne Bugental, who passed away almost two years ago. If those bulbs prosper, I will wax poetic, and feel her "spirit" with me at the cabin. (I'm serious! She was a wonderful woman.)
Last night or this morning, my first sunflower was brutalized by an evil squirrel that lives in the redwood tree by my balcony. At last I think it was the squirrel. Maybe it was a blue jay. The criminal took out more than half of the petals, not to mention most of the reproductive stuff (I don't want my post deleted for obscenity) in the middle. To damage my sunflower is to damage me.
Fortunately, as can be seen to the left, this sunflower's younger brother is showing yellow, and will soon bloom. I apologize if my assumption that "the squirrels did it" offends any "Liberals" out there (or Conservatives, for that matter). But I was involved in discussions of "prejudice" and "racism" this morning, and freely admit my ambivalence toward squirrels.
OK, I'm not really in the hospital. I'm at my computer sipping wine and smoking a f*g. But please send healing thoughts my way.

''I try be one with all things.' Always knew you were zen and a Laker fan.

Hey, this is kind of cool. Andrew Bogut's then girlfriend, now wife, was in my class at Diablo Valley College, up here in the Bay Area. Her name is Jessica. She was an absolute delight, politically incorrect yet compassionate, like me, and took me to a playoff game. It was one of the years the Warriors did NOT win the championship. She's a "party girl," but was pregnant with Lucca (spelling?) at the time, so we couldn't get "sh*tfaced" together.

It’s a good thing I’m not home or the squirrels that sit on my garage roof would see your post and scream “squirrel lives matter!”

@wolfgirl569 Here's the link. It's pretty funny. How The Horse views squirrels these days.

Sorry for your sunflower, the blue jays are surely innocent, they do not tear off petals from the flowers, they would have picked up the sunflower seeds... after the petals fall by themselves, may be it was a young deer. I suppose this photo is NOT your cabin in Montana.

This is too funny other than your heartbreak over your sunny plant. Do you ever see rabbits in MT? I thought you lived in CA?

@TheHorse I only wondered because JJ hadn't seen any in his state this year.

Why is the sunflower backwards? By your title, I thought the squirrel really hurt you. Glad that wasn't the case, especially since a squirrel in Colorado tested positive for the bubonic plague.
