I never posted anything here today. Things kept interrupting my life. They were not bad things, but they kept me away none-the-less. Mowing--did not quite happen. I started early but the grass was so wet and juicy it was clogging the mower. I tried to do some more, but I was waiting for a phone call to go meet my sister. My sister--she and her friend, mostly the friend, have decided Bob and I need taken care of in the food department. In their county, every Friday, there is a Farm to Family give away. They get anything that is being given away--then they want to give it to me. I told you I did a little sewing project for my sister, hemming, by machine, a very long strip of fabric she had cut off a skirt. She is going to make a hat band. I needed to return it to her. Because my sister and her friend Ron did not have room in their refrigerators and cupboards, they decided to drive out here and give the stuff to me.Oh, and wanted us to meet them at the cafe for a catfish dinner. (My refrigerator and pantry are also full) They brought a total of six pounds of apples, ten pounds of potatoes, three pounds of onions, a container of sour cream, two quarts whipping cream and two quarts half and half.(half and half is light cream). We all had catfish. I was the only one piece order. Unfortunately about half of my piece was not fully cooked, but I still had plenty to eat. Everyone else had thoroughly cooked, more than they could eat catfish. With various potatoes, and salads. Bob could not eat all of his, and neither could my sister. Ron finished his, barely. Bob got a "to go" box for one piece of fish, sis gave us one, so we will crisp it up in the oven and have it at lunch today. He did not bring home his fries. I took the last of the strawberries, three over ripe bananas, and most of a pint of heavy cream I already had and blended up some "ice cream" for us later. I did that before breakfast. There was honey on the berries, plus I added a bit of sugar and a splash of vanilla. Glad I have plenty of freezer space. I was supposed to meet my friend for coffee, I thought, as a rain date for last week, but I have not heard from her. At 4:30 this morning there was lots of lightning. If it dries out, I will mow some more today.

I love catfish, it is delicious, I liked it coated with cornmeal and fried. We do not have catfish here.

Yes, this was battered with a cornmeal batter and fried. I wonder, if fact, if it was caught locally.

@GardenGerty That is how I liked the catfish, it is a shame that they are not available locally.

The ice cream was very good. Much less sweet than store bought. I only ate a small helping. Hubby is the one who needs the calories.

I've had catfish only once. It was good. I'm sorry your one piece wasn't thoroughly cooked. That's great your sister is generous. You won't need to worry about food for a while.

Your frozen dessert sounds absolutely delicious! You have one of those big freezers? I only have the one in the fridge. Know what's weird, I guess? I've never had catfish. I'm not sure I've been to any restaurants that had them. I'm sorry you got some that was undercooked. Sounds kind of scary. We had some rain with last night's thunderstorm, but not a downpour yet. I'm not calling "monsoon" until a downpour happens. All this next week, scattered thunderstorms are predicted at various times. It may become exciting. They don't seem to bother kitty, thank goodness.

My cats sleep through it. It is not weird really that you have not had catfish, it is not served much in California and New Mexico. I keep seeing predictions of rain but no materialization.
