Just got the electric bill for June and the beginning of July and wow. So our bill is usually about $70 but since it has been so hot out we have had the A/C on almost constant. The bill is $139.24, so double the normal bill. I still can't turn the A/C off though it is way to hot out there and I would rather pay the money and be comfortable than save a little money and sit here and sweat the whole day away. I might turn the thermostat up a degree or two and maybe it wont run as much. Has your electric bill jumped up from the hot weather? I know some of you are on the other side of the world and it is winter so this probably is not an issue for you now.

My electric bill normally runs between $60-$80 the non-summer months of the year, but like yours doubles in the summertime due to the AC running non-stop. My summer bills usually run between $120-$150. But since I know that those increased bills are coming, I set aside money for it during the winter months when my electric bill is much lower. That way, it's less of a financial burden on me once those higher bills start coming.

@Bensen32 It’s crazy how much of our utility bill is consumed by just the AC alone!

Yeah that makes a lot of sense. I mean I knew it was going to go up and it's not a big deal really, just hate putting out that kind of money LOL

We do not have the A/C, I only run a fan in the computer room, because it is the only room that can get a bit hot during the day.

@Bensen32 We really do not need A/C where I live, we could not survive without a central heating for winter.

@Bensen32 yes. If the electricity bills continue to rise strict measures need to be taken.

The A/C has been on constantly for more than 2 months and yes the bill is more expansive but we are aware of this and not surprised,

Luckily we have the wood fire to keep warm by or we might be running the A/C too.

I got an off-the-charts bill last summer so I've been trying to keep the AC off as much as possible.
