Who was that (un)masked person?

Okay, I am no expert. It may be that some of you will NOT agree with me, but we have been asked to wear a mask whenever we cannot be socially distant and when we are inside a building and I am doing so. I went to Dollar General this morning. They have big signs saying to wear masks--the clerk told me last week that she will not enforce it. I do not blame her, it is not safe to try to. Last week she had a mask on. Today she did not. Almost every customer had some kind of a face covering, except for one, and except for her. At church, we are supposed to wear masks if we are mingling in the lobby. When we go to our pews, if we are at least six feet from everyone else, we can take it off if we choose. At the zoo, to enter, you need to have a mask, or they will sell you one. You are supposed to wear it inside exhibit buildings, and if you cannot keep six feet from others, (like in the children's zoo) Almost every one followed through. We put our masks down when outside and distant from people, but in the buildings, we wore them. We saw one young family that did not. I can understand that with their pretty young children, but the adults did not either.Did not appear to have them. They talked a lot, did not care who they were close to and did not care where their kids went or what they touched. I saw a group of three teen boys that did not appear to have them, but must have to get in. They chose not to go in buildings, though, when they read the signs. I have read that per capita right now Kansas has the highest percentage of active cases. Our particular county had a surge of five cases last week. One was a child under 9, one a child under 17. Altogether though, we have only had twenty-eight cases. We are rural. 21 have met the criteria to be considered recovered. We were in Wichita today, though. It is a densely populated urban area. They have had a lot more cases there. They have had deaths. They have full hospital beds. I am making more masks. It makes me feel a little better. So does staying six feet or more apart.

Here in Los Angeles, we are required to wear masks. But I see people not wearing them while taking walks or where people think they are social distancing. The problem is a lot of people don't stay away 6ft. I feel like they should tell everyone to wear a mask because not all practice social distancing correctly or just don't . . . if given an option, a lot of people would find ways to not wear it. But regardless, my family will wear the masks everywhere - even if others don't - we aren't taking those risks !

Sometimes I have to remind Bob of the mask, but at least the ones I make can be fun.

Often people get too close, they seem not to care, but I do, I do not want to get sick.

I wear them. I am making a wardrobe of them for when I go back to work. One website suggested that you always carry an extra and change them out mid day so you feel fresher and less sweaty. I think that is a good idea.

Things are getting better here, but I wear my mask every time that I go shopping or I go inside a building. The clerks must wear the mask, if I see one without, I call the manager, this is something they must respect, if they do not, how can they pretend that the clients do?

@LadyDuck Some stores are that way, and yes, I know the manager. This one, not so. Cannot keep good help.

@GardenGerty I pay at the self cashiers, so I do not care for those clerks, but I care for those who touch the goods and are in the aisles.

@GardenGerty Our stores are surely not as big as yours and the Managers stay for many years. I know personally them all.

Cases are rising in my area. I wear a mask. That Dollar General clerk should have gotten in trouble for not wearing one.

She seemed not to have a name tag either, and seemed to be running the whole store by herself

It is not that hard to be considerate and wear a mask. It is not yet required here in Alberta, but many wear them. Seems better than shutting down again.

I know. I have some long term friends online who are very anti mask. Luckily I never see them in person.

We have about 1,450 active cases provincewide, with 2,723 deaths. Ontario is 908,607.67km squared with a population of 13,448,494 as of last census. I guess we're doing ok?

It seems like it. Your provinces are maybe like our states. We have states, divided into counties and for some purposes divided even further into townships.

It saddens me to see so many people choosing not to wear masks, but I almost can not blame them. It has become a political standpoint as well, which is a dangerous thing. People are beginning to believe, if they haven't all along, that the virus is not real. I did not wear a mask when outside on the side of the road at the beginning of this month. It was too hot to bother, even though I was standing close to other people so as not to get ran over. I may be going to help a friend move this weekend, and I have to ask myself whether I should wear a mask in the hot sun. Something that pops into my mind regularly is that we have to consider everyone's individual circumstances as well as their beliefs. The cashier might have been far too hot and felt faint with the mask on, she may have forgotten it at home and was waiting for a family member to run it to her. It's a tough time, and I just wish that we had a unified stance on it.

I think you have nailed it. They do have a good plexiglass set up in that store. She did not even have on a name tag, and I wonder if someone called out and she had to come in in a hurry. I used to wear masks to mow, years ago, due to allergy and dust. It is hard. I cut the legs off of some knit pants and made "gaiters" which feel less suffocating. I also always have a bandana and it helps. Wearing a sweat band to catch the sweat is another thing I have been doing and it seems to make the heat more bearable.

This seems to be a very controversial topic. I don't understand why, but I am pro-mask myself. I do not think that anyone should enforce someone else wearing a mask. When I see someone not wearing a mask, I know that I need to go around them as far as I can. I feel that it works both ways.

It works. I do not force it. I wear one. I may not be 100 % certain of the help they are, but they must help at least some. I have problems when people do not wear masks and do not distance and block any way of getting around them.

Our state recently made it mandatory that you had to wear a mask when out.

Our governor mandated it, but counties for the most part say that it is not a criminal matter so police will not enforce it.

Here where I live in Ohio it is mandated to wear a mask, I don't like wearing one because it hinders my breathing due to COPD but I do.

I heard and read about a situation where people went in to get tested... They filled out the form and waited to get tested but the weight was too long so they just left without getting tested. They were later contacted that they tested positive. If that is true that means we cannot trust the numbers provided.

I have read that, and other things about supposedly falsifying the numbers. I wear a mask, in case it makes the difference between staying healthy or not.

@GardenGerty I don't get why the numbers would be falsified. What is the purposed of reporting higher numbers?
