Shopping at Kroger

I stopped by Kroger today to pick up a few groceries. I had seen on the news that Kroger, Walmart and Dollar Tree and maybe a few other stores would begin to require shoppers to wear masks beginning today.
I was so disappointed. True, a sign at the front of the store said either, we require or request shoppers wear a mask. And most people had masks as usual but a few didn’t and nobody said a word to them. So it’s business as usual.

At our Publix supermarkets, Walmarts, and Home Depots, employees will not let you in the stores without a mask on. But then again, wearing a mask is mandatory in our county anytime you leave your home. Most people here follow the rules, although I still see a few who try to ignore the mandate.

@RubyHawk I do too. With everything going on, we ALL need to be wearing masks out in public. The other option is to return to lockdown, and it seems nobody wants to do that. I sure don't.

@moffittjc Neither do I want to be locked down but if people will not cooperate that could be where we find ourselves.

When I heard the news I thought wearing masks in those stores would be mandatory and maybe it is at Walmart and Target. I only went to Kroger. And I only saw a very few without masks but nobody stopped those few coming in. I want to see everyone wearing a mask when out.

That's not cool. Last week i was in a line at Rite Aid and everyone was following the rules. But a clerk had placed a cart filled with mark down items very near the line!! A lady went over to check out the goodies so as I walked up to the check out clerk, I veered away from her. Who ever put that cart there was not a thinker.

Our local grocery that I had stopped shopping in because almost nobody was wearing a masks recently changed dramatically when our county mayor declared a mask wearing mandate. Last time I was in there, all of the employees had on masks and almost all of the customers. Not everyone, but almost everyone. I read some place that even if only 60% of people wear masks that will help curb the virus. I still feel angry, though, with those who don't.

Actually the places I shop are fairly safe. They have spaces marked off and people keep their distance but as you say there are always a few who don’t wear a mask. I thought when I heard it announced publicly that everyone must wear a mask in the stores they would enforce it.

I feel sorry for people who have to wear a mask all day long every day., such as doctor, nurses and people who work in public places but wearing a mask helps everyone to avoid getting the virus, We only wear our when when go out among others.

I see. We at Hawaiian islands always had to wear masks. All places, no mask no entry. Mayor & Gov. made it an order & mandate to wear masks when outside.

@oahuwriter It is sad. Our leaders should encourage everyone to wear a mask and wash hands often. But they aren’t doing that. More people are dying every day.

They are doing what's right to protect your people. We should have the same here. But the president doesn't do anything and doesn't demand the governors do anything. A few stores are beginning to demand customers wear masks but the Governor says he will not back them up.

Sad isn't it. CDC, guidelines is what our Mayor & Gov is following and all businesses too. No mask, no entry. It was so frightening to see on news Pres Trump holding rallies ...large gatherings prohibited, only groups of ten with social distancing only.

Seems most stores will have that rule now....I wonder how many will follow that rule here because on the news last week it said only 31% of people in my state wear masks.

@RubyHawk Well 80% is much better than here.....yes maybe if everyone did it would go away...but the question is will they? Maybe if it was mandatory everywhere in the world.

Dollar Tree has always required customers (and employees) to wear masks since March! Walmart has now for awhile and we don't have Krogers here but our supermarkets do!!
I don't understand why you are so disappointed?!?!? You don't want to wear a mask? You don't care if others don't wear masks? Please tell me I am misunderstanding you!

You are misunderstanding me. I want everyone to wear a mask and keep their distance. I wrote about Kroger when morepeople were not wearing masks. I was at Kroger today and everyone wore a mask And kept their distance. We didn’t go out at all for months. We ordered our grocery online. We still go out only when necessary and always with a mask and sanitizer. I would like to see everyone doing the same. I was disappointed because everyone wasn’t wearing a mask earlier. Our Governor still won’t mandate wearing a mask.

Yesterday I saw a sign at Food Lion saying that masks are required to shop there. Of course I had my mask on. I did see one guy who didn't have a mask on.

I think we should protect ourselves in public places as it's for our safety first and then we can save others as well

@RubyHawk when people are doing what they should then it feels joy and in this pandemics people have to save each others just by following things
