It was a circus

My dad often acquired unusual things. I never knew for sure where. Especially in this instance, I had no idea where he got the parachute.
I was somewhere between five and eight years old. My dad set up a tent for us in our back yard. It was made from a huge white parachute.
I played all summer, pretending to have a circus. I am not sure what the acts were exactly, but I know I had some gaudy rhinestone costume jewelry.
I am sure it was suitable for the beautiful young acrobatic horseback performer, me.
Life is often a circus, I think.
And did I ever tell you, my father gave me the moon?
He did. And that is another story.

My father procured an army tent that slept at least 10 or 12 people and we had that for a summer of play and sleepovers, it was amazing and I have no idea either where he got it. Summers were magical when we were children weren't they?

Oh, we occasionally had one up in our yard, especially when cousins would visit, but just the boys would sleep in it. Dad was a scoutmaster for a lot of years and we had the tents and stuff at our house.

@BelleStarr There were a lot of things I did not get to do as a girl. Now at my mom's mom, they moved all the beds outdoors in the summer and we slept outside. No a/c.

I can remember playing in a parachute. It was like a maze.

I have some "strange" ones. Really only strange because they come from a little kid perspective.

I’m sure he captured a horse who’d parachuted into the neighborhood, looking for you!
Those memories. I pray they bring you peace and comfort.

Actually we did have a registered Shetland pony that was too young to ride and not broke. Mom won him in a sales competition.

It was in part of this discussion.
The birds were pleased I got started on my mowing. It stirs up bugs for them to eat. The shorter grass means they are hid less well. Butterflies were kind of...

@GardenGerty Yes, sometimes it does. There are times when my brother and I will talk about our childhood and laugh and sometimes cry.

I would have loved a pet lamb. We knew someone who raised sheep, and also cattle.
