An Unusual Fridianne Day

Hi friends! It’s that favorite day of mine again! Tonight will be different from other Friday date nights, however. Rosh Hashanah, our Jewish new year begins tonight. I’m making a special dinner for just my hubby and me to celebrate the event. It begins at sundown. That means I can still have my favorite martini with appetizers at 5 o’clock sharp. I will be off and on myLot today, due to cooking up a storm. Happy Friday to you all!

Wishing you a shana tovah u'metukah! (Did I "say" that right?) We technically can celebrate too . . . hmmmm, I think I will look up what traditional foods are served for Rosh Hashanah ! But mine, I'm sure, will be simplified . Well enjoy today and tonight . . . a "new" year is definitely welcomed!!

@DianneN I’ve had a nice day so far. My husband is going to be going to work in a few hours. I wish that he only worked days, but the schedule varies.

@DianneN A Martini at 3:30 is not a great idea, I think that our cooking would be a bit strange. It's cold here this morning.

@LadyDuck I agree! As it was, I had both ovens going and many pots on the burners. Dinner would have been ruined for sure! It's very chilly here today, too, but it will warm up this afternoon.

Thank you, Anna. It was delicious. Hubs tried to give me one at 3:30, but I told him to wait until 5. I was way too busy cooking. Enjoy yours!!!

Just through Sunday. Next Sunday is Yom Kippur, our day of fasting. I hope to be on myLot or napping the day away. It’s awful and I always get a huge headache.

Challah, brisket, roast chicken. potato kugel, chopped liver, gefilte fish, red and white horse radish, chicken soup, honey and pomegranate cake, apple cake, braised leeks, roasted broccoli with honey, roasted red potatoes, etc. I know it's a lot, but we can have leftovers for tomorrow night, too.

@jstory07 Thanks! This was holiday food. Our dates used to be more fun when we were able to go out to romantic restaurants, but I try to make them special these days. Hubs offered me a martini at 3:30 in the afternoon! I asked him to wait until 5.
