Our Air Fryer is Worth It

I once owned an air fryer, but it is a cheaper and smaller version of what we have right now. It did not work for me and I ended up selling it on eBay. It was also a bad decision because I was not able to set my preference to ship within the US only, so since I offered free shipping I ended up paying more than $100 international shipping fee. I promised to myself that I will never buy an air fryer again.
Then late last year, William Sonoma was having their sale and this air fryer which is larger and a touch button kind caught my attention. At first, my husband warned me and teased me that I will be disappointed again. But since they offer free shipping and returns, I decided to give it another go.
It was the best idea! I am now able to enjoy crispy fried foods with little to no oil. I can air fry vegetables, shrimp, fish, chicken, beef, even make bread - I have not tried that one yet though.
The quality of a product does matter. And there are times that cheaper may not turn out to be as cost saving as what we once thought it would be.

@marguicha I bought one and brought it back. I think we love too much traditional cooking.

I am not sure how much it will cost there. But it should be within the price range of microwave ovens. My family lives in the Philippines and I have been telling them to buy one, I'll even pay for it for them just so they can also enjoy fried foods without all the grease from frying it on a regular pan.

@rakski I once tried to cook lumpia by baking it. It was cooked, but it does not have the same crunch as traditional cooking oil fried. I used the air fryer to make some lumpia and it was crunchy. It even turned golden brown like it was deep fried.

You can make breaded fried chicken and fried fish fillet without oil or make popcorn without oil. Oil and fat is not really that bad though. The real evil is carbs.

I never tried a convection oven. I have friends who have counter-top convection ovens and they swear by its ease of use and as an alternative to deep-frying foods. I have long wanted to get one, but I do not have anymore kitchen counter space.

I have had that experience with other things. I am glad you got one that works for you. I do not have an air fryer or an instant pot. Maybe I will sometime. I will keep this in mind.

That's very true. The same goes for a first-generation product or idea. When you bought your first one, it could've been a first-gen prototype. Now, air frying has become popular, so the products keep improving as long as the demand is there.

@Raine38 Based on your posts, I would be inclined to agree.

You know I figured air fryers were worth it. Just because of the savings from not having to use oil.

@Raine38 That's a make I've never heard of. I just looked it up on Amazon and it has a good rating and the model with the dials (rather than the keypad) looks straightforward and easy to use. After all, temperature and time are all you really need to know to cook anything!

I'm glad you found an air fryer that you like. I have a large one and love it.
Sorry to hear you got hit hard with shipping fees on the one you sold.

That's great that you are enjoying your new fryer after so much disappointment with the old one.
