I Found My Old Book

Yay! I found my old Philippines cooking book. It is from this book that I learned cooking Filipino food in my early 20´s. When I married, I only knew how to cook simple Filipino food like Tinola and Paksiw. Tinola is a soup either made of chicken or fish meat with veggies. Paksiw is made of any kind of meat with the use of vinegar and other spices. I am happy to find my cooking book again as I have thought I have lost it and maybe borrowed by a friend who didn´t return it. This book was my guide in Filipino cooking away from my home country. I was reorganizing our living room furniture and cleaning the cupboards where I have some books and other things that I have collected before. One of the things that I have found and forgotten are my scrabble cards, Agatha Christie books, my Genealogy album and my Euro coins collection. I think it is good to clean and reorganize furniture so I can find things that I have lost and not found anymore. Have you found something lately in your home which you have searched for a while? Thanks for reading and have a nice Tuesday everyone.

I'm so happy to hear you found your recipe book. I'm busy cleaning out drawers and have come across some old photos . It's funny how memories come flooding back just seeing a particular picture

I have no idea @Janet357. They are in a coin album. I didn´t count them. I am sure they are still lacking coins from other European countries. Thank you.

@rakski I am thinking of making the old tradition of making cassava cake but I have to buy grated cassava in the Asian supermarket which is 20 minutes drive from our place.

I remember seeing a cooking book similar to that in my grandparent's home. As for finding something lately, I have been looking for a particular hoodie that I wore a lot the early part of the lockdown while working from home. I knew I had it sent to the laundry shop but since then, I haven't seen it yet. Organized my closet and there it was. Glad that I got it.

This book was published in 1973 @allen0187. Maybe your grandparents have this book at home. I am glad that you have found your hoodie. Thank you.

@thelme55 I don't think it is the exact book but both my grandparent's love to cook and my grandmother kept a number of different cookbooks. My mother had some of those books here at our home. Yup, I'm glad I found the hoodie. I actually thought I forgot it someplace else.

I'm happy for you. I have found oddities lately but most of them I brought here from mom's house after she passed. I had my own junk to deal with before and now I have mom's junk to deal with as well.

Are you going to (re-)learn some "new" recipes? The only things I've found recently were things the gremlins had taken.

It's really nice to rediscover such old treasures like that.Yes, but when I rearrange old things, I spend a lot of tme looking at old photos of my child/our family.

I can relate to that @acelawrites. Instead of half an hour dusting the photo album, a few hours were spent looking at the old photos. Thank you and have a nice Thursday.
