Hubby Landed a Job!!

United States
October 26, 2020 8:02am CST
My husband recently got his CDL and began searching for a job. He was turned away from all he had applied for because he lacked driving experience. Recently he applied for a job with an employer from out of Connecticut. They will train inexperienced drivers and get them on the road. He starts sometime next week. This job will keep him away from home for 3+ days a week. He expressed the need to be close to home in case of emergencies. The recruiter said he fully understood and the company does keep the drivers close to home. Neither of us like the fact that he will be away from home for a long time. Even a few days away will take some getting use to. Little Miss got a little weep yesterday when my husband explained that his job would keep him away. We told her that he would be doing video chats with us so she can see him. The money is really good, so are the benefits. Can't complain about that. The away time will take time to adjust to. But, at least he will be working. Always be thankful for the little things in life.

I'm sorry your husband will be working away from home but at least he is now gaining experience which should help with his next job application.

The recruiter said that many of their drivers often go onto jobs that are closer to home. But, he also stated that the pay and benefits are really good. This will help us with saving for the home that we hope to get next year.

@ElusiveButterfly Wishing you all the very best that things work out well. As you say, there will be some adjustment for a start but hopefully it won't be too bad.

He is starting to feel the pain that I am feeling about him being away. Little Miss is attached to him a bit more. I know he will miss being near her.

@Courtlynn I hope so. Little Miss is already losing sleep lately. She is up 2-3 times during the night.

That is why he wanted to do this type of work. It will get us where we need to be financially so we can buy a home.

I am hoping that he will get a job closer to home. It will be rough having him away for so long.

I am so glad he got a job, it is not easy in our days, the minus are the 3 days outside the home, but at least the rest of the week he will be home.

Sadly I just found out that he will be gone for nearly 3 or more weeks while he is training. This will be really rough.

They are hoping he will stay with the company. However, he does want to be home with us. Once he has acquired some driving experience he will be able to apply to local companies and hopefully get a job that brings him home most every night.

My first husband was an over the road trucker, usually gone three weeks, home three days. It is hard. It is also a chance to learn geography, etc. by following him on a map. Even as young as she is.
