I love trees and really wish I could identify them more easily. It’s on my ‘to-do’ list.
In the Karijini National Park area of West Australia, we’ve seen dozens of really white trees. Apparently the local name is ‘snappy gum’ and its botanical name is Eucalyptus leucophioia. It is endemic to northern Australia and has smooth, powdery bark and white flowers. Can you see the pinkish hue on the upper surfaces of the limb in the top right photo?
Most don’t grow particularly high unless they have found a good water source. Some, like the two in the bottom photos, cling tenaciously to the sides of the gorges for which Karijini is famous.
Unfortunately, the photo doesn’t do justice to how white the trees are and how they stand out in the landscape.

So the trees grow close to the ground for efficiently getting moisture, right? Due to climate? Much like our desert trees in the U.S. Southwest? Nature has a way of adapting even extremes
Cool photo

Where’s the kookaburra? Don’t they sit in the old gum tree, like the song says??
I do see the pinkish tint to them! Quite beautiful!
