It was bound to happen. Ice skating for hours a day while doing rigorous online schooling is bound to make for an accident. I found our granddaughter in a boot while dancing and singing in one of her daily TikTok videos. I figured she was using an old boot from when she fractured her heel, or the time she wore a boot when she broke her ankle in 6 places. So I called her daddy. Sure enough, she sprained her ankle during practice. The doctor allowed her to skate, but she must wear her boot when off the ice. The doctor said nothing about dancing. Just another oops for her and not too bad. Thank goodness!

Oh gosh! Well, injuries in skating happen all the time . . . thank goodness it's just a sprain. If she is still allowed to skate, then I suspect she must be mostly ok. Having the old boot on will at least remind her to keep babying that ankle for now, even if she does dance around.

@DianneN That's a new boot especially for this sprain ? I never got one of those - we just limped around . Well I hope her ankle gets better soon!

I was hoping you wouldn't see this post. I was assured she will be just fine. It is a new boot. Her tootsies have grown in the last couple of years, but not by much.

@much2say Yes, they threw her old one out when they moved in June to NJ. They will certainly hang on to this. Limped around? Thanks!!!! Going to watch the elections for a bit.

@jdbces It's fun for some, but not for me! . I haven't put on skates since I was a kid and teenager. She skates competitively and has been working with Olympic coaches for several years now. She is 12 and has been skating since she was 3 years old. She's very, very good.

So sorry to hear about the accident to the dancing queen. So unfortunate if she would not be able to dance again. Technology is advanced so much. Something will be there to protect her and will be able to dance again. Everything would be okay.

She is okay and getting better daily. She texted me a while ago that she had a great practice on the ice and was able to complete all her jumps. Now she is doing online schooling at the ice rink and will practice after school. She's a trooper!

If she skated with 6 broken bones in her ankle, she can skate with a sprained one. She is too much.

@JudyEv Yes, it's always a concern, but she is being well looked after. Almost everyone, including her coaches, have broken bones multiple times. It comes with the territory.

@DianneN I would worry a bit about her fitness in years to come - too much stress on young bones, etc. But I'm sure she is being well looked after.

Now she is doing her online schooling and will practice again before Mom picks her up. I hope your back is doing better today.
