Well, it is just for atmosphere, but the solar lights work! Our new deck was finally completed today and looks awesome. It was worth the wait. I am so relieved the lights work, too! Goodbye nonmask wearing contractors! Good riddance, too!

And the kids! Thank you! I will try to get a photo in the daylight. The old deck was a chore to keep up.

It is nice to have your privacy back, although it was good they helped alert you to your stalker.

Oooh nice! Is the decking wood or a composite material? We're looking at changing ours next year but wood takes too much maintenance and composite is comparatively really expensive.

Thanks! We had wood before and had to restain it every year. Such a pain for my husband and such an expense when we hired others. This is a composite deck which should last longer than we will. It's extremely expensive, but looks great. I will try to take a photo in the daylight.

@DianneN We're leaning towards composite. I already have a decent frame under the existing decking so I might just install it myself to keep the cost down.

@WorDazza If you can do it, you will save so much on the labor. The crew was able to use our existing structure, too, and replaced one rotting post. That saved us a lot of money, too. You will love it!

I like the solar lights. I could get a home equity loan to pay for a deck project, but I am hesitant to accrue too much debt. I won't even go into debt for a car. I feel I have enough bills.

@DianneN I think that is the best way to go, if you can't afford it, don't buy it!

You are being wise. I wouldn't want to have to pay the interest on a home equity loan. It's smart not to go into debt. We pay cash for everything these days.

My two girls are using as much solar lights as they can. I have not thought about them as the last time I checked they were too expensive.

We used to have them in our garden and our son put up a few solar spotlights here. However, the ones in the garden got old and grungy so we had to throw them out. Our son took the spotlights to his house. I have to get some more. The ones on the deck were a fortune due to having have to fit the posts. I will check out prices online. The spotlights threw a lot of light.

We used to have them in our garden, but they got old and dingy. Before long, I intend to buy hundreds more! I'm so thankful this deck is done. We kept changing plans since August or so, so it dragged on and on. Many thanks!

Thank you! The deck looks wonderful and I must admit, they did an impeccable job. Too bad they didn't wear masks. The best thing was that they returned our grill to the deck and hooked it up to the gasoline. We were finally able to have a barbecue after weeks and weeks!

@LadyDuck When we replaced our old wood deck, wood was the only thing available. This composite will last long after we are gone and free up our time and wallet.

@DianneN here in my place in villages people use IPS where all day long solar plate save energy from sun and when load-shedding occur they use it for fan and light.
