Walmart Was Packed To The Hilt

Everyday I watch the news. The current Corona crisis is worse than it has ever been. We're talking once more about shutdowns, lockdowns, stay at home orders, capacity limitations and curfews for restaurants and bars... And yet it took me more than five minutes to even maneuver my cart through the main entrance into the store because there were so many people out and about shopping. Even at the Old Time Pottery store, we saw the parking lot was full, and when we got into the store there was a line of people waiting to check out that wrapped around the store. If Covid is worse than ever, why are so many people out? Let's not count out the traffic. People were struggling to get into the malls. Burger King and McDonald's drive throughs were loaded with cars. Hobby Lobby was this way too. I can't help but think it is the media that is panicked. But clearly the PEOPLE are not panicked at all. What am I missing here? The media is telling us that the world is in a state of emergency the likes we have never seen, and that people are terrified of going out into the firestorm that is the virus... And yet, more people are out than I have seen in a very long time.

It is certainly an interesting and curious development, and makes me believe more and more that the virus was more politics than crisis.

@sophie09 Somewhere along they allowed themselves to be sheeple being lead to the slaughter. Not sure how that happens. But I think it did.

Here in Malaysia, we're under partial lockdown. We're allowed to go out but need to follow the SOP. Okay, so go out. There's things to buy, things to do. But some bring small child with them. Now what's that about? I am trying to be positive, thinking that maybe they can't leave the child alone. But taking the child along to shop in the store is not right either. Why the whole family has to be there?

Well, considering that children are the least likely to become infected, and the most likely to not have any lasting effects if they do, I am not sure leaving the children at home has anything to do with anything. On top of that, if half of these people can't work because everything is shut down, how will they pay for childcare while they're out getting toilet paper?

People are fatigued. The virus is getting worse but they are letting down their guards.

But isn't that part of why so many people voted for Biden? Wouldn't that then suggest MORE people would be sitting at home waiting for Biden to fix it all? Seems to be the total opposite. Especially while Biden has suggested more lockdowns and mask mandates? This just makes no sense to me at all if I am being totally honest here. AND, if Trump had been reelected, and this was happening, would not people be saying, "See? They're all ignorant? They don't care if people get sick and die!" But now it's, "Hey, we're just tired of it is all." I am perpetually confused. lol

@porwest what? IDIOTS are letting down their guards. Smart people are still doing the right thing. I didn't return to in-person work this week. I continued to work virtually. And Trump told me that the virus would go away in April. . . and then again on November 4th.

@NJChicaa I would suggest that better than 60% of Walmart shoppers are Biden voters, so I would then agree with your idiot comment. And Biden said he will cure cancer in his first term. I will await that outcome with bated breath.

I don´t understand it either. It sounds that the media are panicking while the people are not caring anymore what the media is telling us.

And yet, if I am to gauge the election, the entire Biden win was based on the Coronavirus. Had the Coronavirus not happened, Trump would have been reelected in a landslide victory. If the people elected Biden because of the Coronavirus, and its becoming worse, the crowds out and about in public make no sense at all.

I'm surprised Walmart let's so many people in the store I figured there would be a capacity. It's like that here though at our walmart and wegmans stores I've been told. So glad I do my shopping online so I don't have to deal with people.

I don't like what the media and the democrats have created here with this. Making people afraid of each other. What kind of world are we becoming? Ugh. This is what we want? To be isolated in our homes with a computer and an Amazon Prime delivery guy? Might as well just all die and get it over with.

I am trying to understand the correlation between the Biden win and the Trump loss, which is tied quite a lot to the Coronavirus situation and supposed "response," and how, if all of these people voted for Biden in PART due to the seriousness of the virus and the supposed lack of response from Trump in dealing with it...why the sudden lack of concern for what was a key issue in the election?

They must be in panic mode because seems like there are places where there is no toilet paper and other necessities, though I have not seen it here. Were their carts overflowing with stuff? When people are in panic mode I guess corona goes out the window. But media is to blame. They scare people and say they will shut things down. So people have to stock up or in some instances overbuy things.

@lovebuglena I don't know. It would be interesting to see. But I won't be out in that madness. Black Friday is a stay at home day for me, Covid or no Covid.

You're absolutely right; but people are tired of being cooped up inside. We are still very careful when we go out; but a lot of people aren't. We watch webcams of the crowds down in Key West on the weekends, etc.; and at least half of the people don't wear masks. I don't get it.

@LindOHio I think there is more to it than just being tired of being cooped up. As I have alluded to numerous times. There is a need for people to think real hard and dig a lot deeper about all of this. When you start connecting the dots, interestingly enough...they connect.
