We Have New Year’s Eve Plans

Rather than doing our usual mega festivities that we have been doing in Florida for the last 7 years, we are celebrating our “old” way when our two sons were babies. We will dress up in our elegant evening clothes - a fancy negligee for me, a robe or whatever for hubs. We will order Chinese food from our favorite and most delicious Chinese restaurant and lots of it. I already know what cocktail I will have hubs make me. We will eat in front of the TV and watch a good movie or two. When the countdown of the crystal ball in Times Square in New York City begins, we will watch it together and kiss Happy New Year as we’ve done since we first met, no matter where in the world we happened to be. Let’s hope the new year will be better than this one. Cheers to 2021! ~If the photo loads, it is my older son’s at his new house. I hope to be swimming in it finally if the pandemic is gone~

I've never even thought about wearing a ballgown. New Years at best is a rootbeer float for me.

A negligee is NOT a ballgown.

@DianneN I've seen some gowns that look like negligees or slips.

@sallypup I have all kinds, but none that look like a ball gown. I'd never fit into our bed if I wore my real ballgown.

Sounds like a lovely plan - fancy but cozy and safe at home! Oh gosh I have not even thought of New Year's anything yet . . . but I am sure we will be at home. We usually eat Japanese soba noodles on NY's Eve . . . it is a tradition to eat that to "cleanse away" the bad from that year or at least that is what my parents have taught me. So we should eat gobs of it .

I think I should make a side dish of soba noodles, because I feel the same. Anyway, it's the best we can do and hope the following year gets better and better!

I am interested to see what change if any, we'll see in 2021. Who knows? Maybe Biden will surprise us as President. Or, he could be worse for the country than Trump, and we'll be stuck with him for, four years.

That sounds like a great plan! We don't have plans yet for New Year's eve, but most likely, we'd be just staying at home

The New Year is still a new year and we need it more than ever. The spirit of the festivities will take another flavor but we still keep our chin up nevertheless. The osprey will be missing you in Florida though! .

I agree, but it's the best we can do to ring in the New Year with hope in our hearts. I'm going to miss my osprey so much. He will probably look for us in a few days.
