Everyone! Happy 2nd Advent Sunday as well.
I almost forgot that today is the day of Santa Claus here in Germany. It is supposed to be a happy day for the kids in Germany but it seems that no Santa Klaus is roaming around in the city, busses and trains, giving people chocolate and some Christmas goodies.
When my hubby opened our door going to his atelier, a Santa chocolate and a pack of Lindt liquor chocolate were on our doorsteps. Santa Klaus was here and left us these goodies.
, I wonder who the Santa was. He is doing that every year and it is still a mystery in our building. All neighbors have received those goodies. Thank you, Santa, whoever you are.
Have you received something from Santa today?
Thanks for reading. Have a nice Advent Sunday to all.
Update: We called it St. Nikolaus Day in Germany.

That's such a thoughtful gift. Could it be the landlord?

I suspect that it is the landlord. We have a kind landlord and maybe it was him or his daughter. Thanks @ScribbledAdNauseum

@thelme55 I am glad you guys have a kind landlord. That isn't always the case. It's nice that he gets those expensive chocolates too.

Santa is a commercial founded by the Americans @flapiz and was inspired by the story of St. Nicholas.
St. Nicholas Day is on the 6th of Dec. in Germany. The story said that St. Nicholas traveled in Europe from Greece and came to the Netherlands on the 5th and came to Germany on the 6th of Dec. The Germans celebrate St. Nicholas Day by giving kids some sweets pack in a Christmas bag or sack.

Few years back, they celebrated St. Nicholas day in my younger daughters school. That was the first time we came to know of St. Nicholas. And it seems he is the saint who inspired Santa Claus.
So thoughtful of the Santa there to spread some sweetness in the neighborhood. It's much appreciated especially in this pandemic.

Yes, it was St Nicholas who has inspired Santa Claus in America. Thanks @arunima25
When I first came to Germany, my parents-in-law put some sweet goodies inside the Christmas bag and put the bag in front of our room door so when I went out I saw the bag. They said it was for me from St. Nicholas who came while I was sleeping. I was confused as it was the first time I heard of St. Nicholas and how the Germans celebrated that day with the kids. That next Christmas, I was doing it for my child.

@arunima25 It is nice to learn something from the traditions of other countries
. I am also carrying the Filipino traditions here in Germany.

@thelme55 That year we had young European volunteers who had come for an exchange program here in school and they were in charge of the celebration. This was something new for all children and parents here.
There are few customs that I got from my in laws side and I am carrying it forward.

Maybe your landlord delivers the gifts or a renter with extra money to give to ones and ask there.
Happy St. Nicholas day and second advent Sunday. While churches here so advent with candles each Sunday we don't wish greetings for each Sunday in advent.

Reading your discussion makes me feel like I'm 8 years old again. I really believed in Santa Claus when I was a child. Sadly this time we are all in a new normal stage , things and events are a little different .Wish we can go back and have celebrations again.
