Slushy Bell Pepper

MMM! Doesn't that sound appetizing?
I had three bell peppers in my fridge bought last week for the keto nachos I made. I ended up not needing as many as I had thought, and so the rest were left to sit and be repurposed this week.
I use bell peppers in my meat sauce for spaghetti. I loathe chopping vegetables. Sometimes I pay a little more just to buy the already chopped veggies that you can find in most produce sections of your local grocers. I did that for the onions this time, but I knew I needed to use these bell peppers up.
That's where the food processor comes in. I haven't used this appliance EVER. I didn't purchase it and it was just one of those things left to sit and gather dust. Today I figured out how to take it apart and then I washed and dried it. The machine is LOUD. Louder than I remember it being, but it worked.
Now I have pulverized bell peppers that I can add to my sauce.

I'm not sure that I will use the food processor for the peppers again. I have a smaller food chopper that I could use instead and that wouldn't pulverize them. I used the food processor for two reasons. First I wanted to make sure it still worked and secondly one of my family members is having trouble chewing now and I was feeling lazy about chopping the peppers as finely as he needs them.

@LadyDuck This was bought by my grandmother who used it to make juices for awhile. The juices were awful tasting.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Food processors always do a mess with vegetables... useless for parsley and alike, but they chop too much all the others.

Doesn't sound appetizing, but that's good that you have them to add to your sauce

I'm not sure that I'll do it this way again. I have a different food chopper that would have made them less slush and more coarse. It worked though.

@ScribbledAdNauseum The other one sounds a bit better; although I don't like peppers so can't speak on the subject lol. But glad it still worked.

@MommyOfEli2013 Thanks!
I'm one of those weird creatures who would just eat a bell pepper raw I like them so much.

I don't use my food processor very often, but it is quick and does a great job. I mainly use it to shred carrots, when I make my carrot cake and cabbage, when I make coleslaw. It only takes a minute using that.
I was wondering, when you were using the processor, which button did you use, did you use the puree botten or the shred butten? I know I have hit the puree butten before when I wanted to chop something and I mess.

Yea, try the pulse button, I think that would do better. Mine is a Hamiltion Beach, it has a shred, puree and pulse buttons. I love to use mine when I have to shred a large amount of something. Up until I bought it, I had always used one of them hand held graters (about 45 years), I hated having to use that thing.

Mine only has two buttons. One that says On and one that says off / pulse. I used the on button, but I think I'll try the pulse button next time. It's a Black & Decker model.

@Tina30219 I like bell peppers in my spaghetti but I hate the process of chopping them up. I will use the smaller chopper next time.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Sounds good to me. I am starting to be addicted to having some chili oil lately.

@Shavkat I sometimes crave the spicy stuff but my stomach can not handle it like it once could.

These are the bell peppers or capsicum is another word for the peppers. I did add red pepper flakes to my sauce though.

Good to use stuff up, and I would definitely do the same. Waste not want not as they say.
I don't mind chopping veggies and would never pay the price for pre-chopped. I will admit I do cheat and buy baby carrots a lot though.
Shh. Don't tell anyone.

I mostly buy baby carrots as well, but then they are great in pot roast.
I've been buying a full onion or bell pepper lately because the price versus quantity for prechopped just doesn't match.

@ScribbledAdNauseum Usually when I buy onions I buy them in a 3 pound or 5 pound bag, and doing it that way the savings is even more than when you buy onions individually.
I agree about the baby carrots in a pot roast.

Umm slushy and red peppers don't go together to me...but I guess when they are in salsa they are slushy so they are good...enjoy!

I threw them in with the onions to cook first so any water I hadn't been able to drain would evaporate.

Ouch! I'm sorry!
I hope it's not caused you more pain with your wrists and fingers.

I'm not fond of cutting up veggies either and I have a little food processor that does the work in no time.
I never added peppers to my sauce but it sounds good.

I love it that way. My grandmother used to add bell peppers to her sauce all the time.

I'm curious about adding zucchini in one of these days. I don't normally add it in unless it's already in the store bought sauce. I have added a bit of riced cauliflower when I had less than a cup left. It bulked the sauce up and didn't taste all that bad in it.

The keto nachos were sort of stuffed bell peppers, just cut into pieces. I can't make them again though because one family member can not chew the bell peppers.
