I Had A Great Instacart Delivery Yesterday

I have been pretty vocal about the shortcomings I have experienced with getting my groceries delivered. I had a large order from Stop and Shop on Friday since I was offered free delivery. My order was quite well pulled the only error was I asked for celery hearts and got regular celery. Yesterday I had a small order delivered from Big Y. I wanted some easy to prepare meals since we have snow going. I ordered a store made chicken pot pie, a quiche, and a Canadian meat pie. Unfortunately, they didn't have any rotisserie chickens. The best part was she was able to get my Eglish toasting bread. She actually asked them for it at the bakery. As it turned out, I know the woman who pulled my groceries. She was a ph0oto journalist at the newspaper I worked for. I was the office manager if the circulation department. Small world. We had a long talk when she dropped off the food. We will meet at the next reunion. But the fact that she communicated with me from the time she started picking the groceries was what I liked best. If everyone would do that there would be a lot less dissatisfaction. The picture really has nothing to do with the post but it is snack I had in Vancouver.

How does English toasting bread differ from American?

@BelleStarr We have bread in thin, medium and thick slices - we just pick whichever suits us.

I'm glad you had a good food delivery. It's good she communicated with you while you shopped, and it was someone you know.

I am glad you finally had a shopper that knew what they were doing. I think a lot of these personal shoppers are college students just trying to afford their tuition and books.

Be that as it may, they should give good service since we pay quite a lot for the service. My bad experiences have not been with college students.

@BelleStarr I agree with you. Customers expect a higher quality service with these types of places. I guess some people don't view these gigs as actual jobs that they need to give their best at.

I am going to make a "rotisserie chicken" at home tomorrow, I have my good vertical grill that is perfect to make it.

I have a rotisserie as well and could do my own but I love the one they make in the store.

@BelleStarr We are again in lockdown and we can only buy "essential" food now, nothing already cooked and ready to eat can be sold. It is such a mess with the British and Brazilian mutations of the virus.

I have been thinking of using Instantcart if it becomes available here at the park. No one wants to deliver anything here.

@BelleStarr I think it is something about our park. Things are delivered all around us. I don't know what the problem is. The park is clean, mowed, and paved.

The only store that delivers in our area is Aldi's; and they have a limited inventory. It's nice that you can get groceries delivered.

Have you tried Instacart, Shipt and Mercato? They are all home delivery services not run by the actual stores.

@BelleStarr Instacart only delivers for Aldi's in our area. I will try the other two. Thank you for the suggestion!

I don't trust anyone to do my perishable grocery shopping for me but I will buy food items from websites like walmart, target and vitacost.

That is great that you had a really wonderful delivery, of course it is who you know isn't it? I hope that you can request her going forward to avoid any more disappointments. I go at 7am for groceries and am in and out in about 15 or 20 minutes, as I am only getting perishables. There are very few shoppers in the store at that time, but still our son isn't happy with me doing this. He wants to arrange it so that he will do our curbside pickup. I think that he is feeling useless and needs to pour some of his love on me in an attempt to keep me healthy. But of course as a Mom, I worry about his safety. I try not to bring up the topic right now.

I think I'm too much of a control freak to have someone else choosing things for me. But great that you got such good service. How come she is doing that work now - has she left journalism?

She has, the newspaper moved their office quite far away and I think she was just tired of it.

I just put away today’s Instacart delivery. I have been extremely pleased with all the shoppers I’ve had. Nice that you know your shopper personally.

If the shopped communicated like that, it would result in a much better outcome.

More people should do that especially if you're relying on delivery. This is mainly why I'm an in-person, person. I like to make decisions on changes when I get there. Not have someone else make them for me.

I've been relying on delivery or curbside pickup since the pandemic started. My substitutions are rarely disappointing and sometimes I've gotten items that are more expensive as replacements. Certainly is a small world having your insta cart delivery by someone you know.

Does the person talk to you whilst pulling it for you?
