Do cats and dogs like to nap on things that smell like their servants?

Kitty has a few favorite napping spots in my house. When she wants to control the universe, the naps near my front door, especially when it is open. When she wants to control only me, she sleeps next to my desk, often near my boots or sneakers. Right now, she's asleep next to my 2/3 full laundry basket. Do you think our fur friends like to be near things that smell like us when the nap?

Exactly. Heh. Kitty just came in. After a purr session, she headed for my softball cleats and laundry basket to groom.

Simple answer: yes. A more complete answer would be that it makes them feel secure if they can be near something that has a pleasant association for them. Pheromones, baby.

That’s what they say. I know when I’d take an old shirt over to my mom & aunt’s house when they babysat Freckles she’d be much calmer than when I didn’t.

@Tampa_girl7 When I find a smell that reminds me of pleasant moments, I just pause and take it in.

I miss the smell of my Grandma's lap. She always smelled like...Grandma. Even her house smelled like Grandma.

It seems likely. They certainly often choose those kinds of bedding!

It looks like most people have had the same experience. I'm hoping some dog people will weigh in.

I used to leave behind my soiled shirt whenever I had to travel. This sort of replaced my absence. Rana our pet dog missed me immensely.

Oh yes and the dirtier the better as far as they are concerned .... ok, there is a limit but who puts anything with human waste in a laundry basket?

I think that is very true When I had my Sid, he was always on my clothes or blankets and so on. When he really wanted to be close to mom he slept on my hip at night

When Kitty sleeps with me, in my bed, she puts me where I can only reach her butt and tail.

You wouldn't think they'd choose boots to sleep on.

That is how they own us. They absorb us through smell and use it against us when the timing is right, lol.

without a doubt! it is comforting to them! now, the servant thing would be an elevation for me. I am actually considered a food provision system only.
