My buddy fell asleep in my arms today.

At my friend's preschool today, we took a long walk to different park than we usually go to. My (now) 21-month old buddy Tamir made friends with a cute little girl of about three. They slid together, went "vroom vroom" together at the play structure "steering wheel," and in general had a great kid time. On the way home, Tamir got cranky and tired of walking. I wound up picking him up and carrying him. I started humming a tune to the rhythm of my walking, and he fell asleep on my shoulder about seven or eight blocks from "home." I'm enjoying his language development big time. Today he said "c'mon" and demanded that I come down the slide after him (I did). On some days I'm still writing down the words and "duos" (two word utterances) he uses "at school." A satisfying morning.

I've fallen asleep while riding a horse, too. It's easy to do when the gait is so monotonous.

@TheHorse I honestly thought you'd respond to the part about me falling asleep while riding, not about the monotony of the gait.

@DaddyEvil I think the best horses are protective of their riders. You'd make it home OK.

As a bass player, I prefer to think of it as consistent and correct.

I really enjoy working with young kids. I wonder if being a horse helps me. As you know, horse communication is "nonverbal."

@CarolDM I think patience is a factor. I'm also a decent listener and am not overly "directive." Or maybe it's just my extraordinary good looks and charm.

@TheHorse I have learned a lot about horses over the years and they are amazing animals. I think you have a certain something about you that the kids love. Patience is one thing I am sure.

You are the gentlest soul I have known in recent times. If I could, I would keep you carefully in some soft environment where nothing ever hurts you. Hope you never lose this quality.
