Itch!

My dad bought me a very nice coat about five years ago. I only wear it when it's less than twenty degrees, because as warm as it keeps me the material makes my skin itch something fierce! I just got back from being outside, and my arms and neck are driving me nuts. It did come in handy when it was six degrees below zero the other night. So you have anything nice that works well, but has negative consequences?

I have a jacket that is warm and versatile, but it is fleece like material and seems to collect hair.

Yeah, I love fleece, but it does attract hair, like my dog's.

It sounds like you have an allergic reaction to this coat. Are you fine now?

Is it wool? Or did you have it dry cleaned and it did something to the fibers?

It's wool, yes. I've never had it dry cleaned.I totally forgot you could do that!

Are you able to keep the coat off your skin somehow? Long sleeves and perhaps a scarf underneath? Maybe you're allergic to one of the fibres in the coat.

I need to find my scarf. That would help, you're right.

Yes, I had a warm coat when I first started working that was made of wool. Where the lining didn't cover would make me red and itchy. I must be allergic to wool.

I only wear a heavy coat if I will be out in the cold. Usually just a light jacket.

I cannot seem to wear wool or cashmere. That kind of itching drives me nuts - so I don't have any of that now. I do have this comfy, thick off white jacket with a hood - its cute and goes with nearly everything. But it does NOT keep me warm!!

I am allergic to wool which is probably what your coat is made of and maybe you too are allergic. None of my clothes or coats are made of wool.

You have to be allergic to something that the coat is made out of.

I have a shearling coat, it is very very warm. I do not wear it often because it is usually just too hot, but there is always the odd occasion every few years that I will dig it out.

I cannot wear wool near my skin it gives me the same problem. Wear a scarf around your neck the next time you wear the coat.

Do you wear sleeved typos with it and does it still itch? I wonder what kind of fibers it's made out of to have that affect on you unless you're allergic to something it's made of. But that would be very rare.

At the moment, I don't have anything like that, but considering that I am a woman, it happened to me that I have clothes that are only beautiful, but uncomfortable.

That reminds me of the fake rabbit fur coat that my mom got me years ago. It looked good, it kept me warm but the fur kept coming off and in my nose and I got everything covered in white fur that coat had to go and it did look so great just not made well.
