I wonder why my new shoes squeak

Have you heard the old saying that if your shoes squeak it means you didn’t pay for them? My folks used to say that. I think in the olden days, shoes made of leather would get a tiny air-bubble in the sole and this would cause the squeak. Well, my new Croc look-alikes squeak and you can hear me coming from one end of the house to the next. I don’t suppose they’ll get any better but it’s not a big deal. The photo is of my old black Crocs. You can see that, with all the holes in them, they would be cooler in the summer.

The other day my shoes were squeaking badly so I took them off. Sadly, two steps later I realized the squeaking was me.

Haha. I'm pretty sure this squeaking is not me but perhaps I need to check.

@prinzcy You can't. You just have to put up with it.

So maybe yours have an air bubble in them too.

@JudyEv lol yeah my son was trying to fix his toy but was very impatient and kept on complaining so I told him about the saying ‘A bad workman always blames his tools’ and he just looked at me funny. But he stopped complaining

@sol_cee That's another old one. I wonder how many would understand 'don't put the cart before the horse'.

The only reason I got some crocs was because they were on sale! I keep them in the kitchen and only use them for traipsing around a muddy garden

@Ronrybs Yes, they're thongs in Australia. I don't know why we didn't just get thongs. Maybe we saw the crocs first.

They're not that cheap but very handy from time to time. We bought ours in Europe, mainly to wear in the showers in dodgy caravan parks. But they're really comfortable and easy to slip on and off.

@JudyEv I got a pair of sporty flip flops (is thongs right?) for that kind of dangerous shower!

They squeak perhaps to let people know that “ hey, I’m the new kid on the block” hehehe!

That could be so. Or they are such pretty shoes that they're saying 'Hey, look at me!'.

@sunrisefan I think that is true but then these squeak and they're a sort of plastic.

@JudyEv From my experience, it’s usually the leather shoes that squeak.

I love Crocs. I have a few pairs of them myself. I think it has something to do with the quality of the rubber sole as to why they squeak. I have had some tennis shoes do that.

@JudyEv Same here. I love the quick slip-on. I noticed some rubber soles squeak also, like on grocery store floors, if you have ever washed them in the washing machine too. I think it has a lot to do with the kind of rubber though.

I had some Slippers which used to make a lot of noise when wet. Plus one of my sports shoes used to make a lot of noise on wooden flooring.

@JudyEv Yet it still went fine because a lot of its use was over paved roads, carpeted roads and parks where there was no noise from it.

I am not surprised that they squeak as they have holes. Surely the air flows inside, get trapped in the shoe, causing the noises.
