Yesterday, we visited the Western Australian town of Collie. It has a very proud heritage as a mining town and coal is still mined there. In its heyday, it was seen as rough and dirty but now it rejoices in its heritage and, like many small towns here, endeavours to draw visitors to its streets. Wellington Weir is nearby and now the dam wall now sports the biggest mural in the southern hemisphere – or so they say. There are also some thirty murals in the town itself so we checked out some of them yesterday. I’ve picked out four of the best to show in the collage above. Many towns are now encouraging local artists to brighten up plain walls with colourful murals.

Collages are good in that respect. I don't like putting up just a sentence or two but sometimes there isn't much to say by the time you get to the third or fourth mural so a collage is very useful.
