More murals from Collie, Western Australia

Yesterday, we visited the Western Australian town of Collie. It has a very proud heritage as a mining town and coal is still mined there. In its heyday, it was seen as rough and dirty but now it rejoices in its heritage and, like many small towns here, endeavours to draw visitors to its streets. Wellington Weir is nearby and now the dam wall now sports the biggest mural in the southern hemisphere – or so they say. There are also some thirty murals in the town itself so we checked out some of them yesterday. I’ve picked out four of the best to show in the collage above. Many towns are now encouraging local artists to brighten up plain walls with colourful murals.

These are stunning. One day I would love to visit Australia. I need to go back and catch up on your posts. I love seeing all your pictures of Australia. If I haven't said it before, thank you for sharing all the pictures.
