Not happy with my new clothes dryer

I got my new LG dryer (gas) and I can't say that I am happy with it. The dryer has pre-set dry cycles, which are all sensor dry. I'd think that this feature ensures that all the things you put on any of the cycles completely dry and if they are not when the cycle time is supposed to be up that it would extend the time and keep on drying. I've never stood by the dryer through the entire dry cycle so not sure if the time displayed for each cycle is an estimated time or the actual time it takes to complete the cycle. I am not sure if the machine keeps on working if time is up if the clothes are still not fully dry or if it stops. When I go to take the stuff out of the dryer most of it is still either damp or wet and I have to either do another cycle or just set it for time dry and hope that does the trick. This shouldn't happen with sensor dry, especially when the time for the cycle I choose to use is 63 minutes. I am thinking that next time I do laundry that I will just time dry it and see if that works. I just have to select the temperature and time I want to use. But if that's what I have to do what is the point of the pre-set cycles then? Aside from the drying issue, I noticed that there is a little bit of water on the floor by the dryer, and underneath the dryer as well. I feel wetness when I touch the dryer underneath too. Also, when I open the door I see what I think is lint on the inside bottom of it. The machine itself, the part that touches the door, also has some of that and some drops of water. This should not be happening and I wonder why that is. My old Kenmore dryer was better and it even had a light inside so I can see. This one doesn't. New things should be better but seems like that is not the case.

You could have a defective dryer if the water is being collected around it. Did you buy it new or used? In any case, the pre-set cycles only give you a guess as to how long of a time it should take to dry a given load. They do not keep going if the time runs out. If one dry cycle doesn't work, then try another set of settings.

We bought the dryer brand new. But this machine is sensor dry. What is the point of that if when the cycle is over the items are not fully dry? I don't get it.

The amount of water I noticed was very small but there shouldn't be any.

The old dryer (from the 90s) did not have sensor dry and it didn't have pre-set cycles like this one. I just selected the desired temp and desired time and that's it. When that time was up most of the stuff, if not everything, was fully dry. And if some was still a bit damp I'd just put it on for like 20 min or less and it would do the trick.

I washed some bed stuff recently (not a lot of it) and when I dried it the lint filter was pretty empty and no water on the floor anywhere. Not even a drop. I am thinking that perhaps when the dryer is on and there's lots of stuff and the lint filter gets full and the dryer is still doing the drying that this water thing may happen. Perhaps I have to check the lint filter in the middle of the cycle to make sure it's not full. And if it is clean it and put it back and continue the drying. But I never had to do that with the old dryer.

Maybe the venting tube or whatever it's called needs to be cleaned as well but I had no water issues with the old dryer so doubt it's that. I wonder how I can know if perhaps it is clogged and how I can clean it. Probably need a pro for that, no?

@lovebuglena Hmm I hope you find what it the problem it seems strange. I know my dryer tubing needs to be cleaned for sure, but I never get water puddling.

The water would concern me. I would call someone. Do you have a lint trap? It should be right where the door opens. I use sensor dry and it works fine. But I don't put a lot of clothes at one time in the dryer.

There is a lint thing and I clean it after every use. I took out everything I washed and put in the dryer. It wasn't overloaded. The amount of water is too small but still wonder why it exists...

Is your dryer old or one of the fairly new ones?

@AngelisaQT Is it gas or electric? Maybe it was not properly connected... 4 years is a short time to need a replacement. From what I remember our old dryer was from the late 90s and it worked fine until now. Unless I am wrong and it was from early 2000s. But still, it served a long time.

Both our washer and dryer were broken for a long time. I was really glad when my son finally got us a new washer and dryer. I'm a happy camper now.

This dryer does not seem to be very good. It takes too long to dry.

Water under the dryer doesn't sound good. Sensor drying should do the trick but I never use that option on my dryer. I always pick the timed option.

Hmmm. Good questions. I have only ever used electric dryers. Was this a self-installation, or did a "professional" install it for you? Maybe contacting LG for advice might help.

Since this was a gas dryer it was installed by the people provided by Home Depot, for which we paid a lot of money. I hope they connected everything properly.

I would definitely get in touch with LG about all of your issues. It's still under warranty.
