We’re now in Mt Barker, Western Australia, and about half an hour from the south coast. I did say I didn’t think I’d be posting any more murals but how could I resist showing you this one? Mt Barker has several outstanding murals and this is one. These kids are having so much fun. I don’t know if the magpies are just joining in or if they are dive-bombing the kids. Magpies can be quite vicious when they’re nesting. We’ll be taking photos at a swimming carnival over the weekend. We thought it was going to be hot so Vince didn’t even pack a jumper. We went to a thrift shop and found something suitable for $4 so that was good. In about an hour, we’ll go down to the pool and suss out where we can stand, etc, to take our photos. We do know that the participating teams will be doing a march past at 7.00am so we’ll need to be up bright and early.

There are some treasure in a thrift shop and my favorite is anything antique along with paintings. I love the murals. So realistic.

I will have to say, you Aussies sure do love your murals, which is not a bad thing at all. Wall murals are starting to become more popular here now, well at least in my city anyway. They are popping up everywhere now.

@JudyEv Even hoodlums, thugs and other bad people don't like to paint graffiti over murals. At least that seems to be the case here.

That is an amazing mural .... ok, all of the ones you have posted are amazing .... I have never seen a magpie where I am but I have seen videos of them, they seem to be very funny.

They sometimes bomb people when it's nesting time and can inflict quite a bit of damage but mostly they're a great bird.

The artist is Jerome Davenport who was raised in a small town not far from the town we both grew up in. It was commissioned by a local couple. I might write about it as the story is quite interesting.

Nicely done mural. I think it depicts the daily lives of childhood days in the past years. I think there are less children that does that anymore. It is good to depict that in that painting.
