Dullsville, Hugely Boring, Weird, Yawn Worthy, yet a Friend ~ LOL

Just got off the phone with the most boring dullard I know, yet she is a sweetheart. She texted me yesterday morning, but I didn’t respond until last night. I was brief, but kind. Well, she called this morning and kept me on the phone for 2 hours. I knew from experience not to tell her I was busy, because she would ask me when to call back. I like her a lot in person, but on the phone she drives me insane. She jumps from one subject to another, loses her train of thought, talks to her husband while I’m in the middle of talking, goes on and on about the weather, her illnesses, gossips, people I don’t know nor care about, hems and haws, etc......... The funny thing is that she is so different in person. Sigh.............. I did my duty, and I am here to MyLot and relax.

@DianneN I hate that for you, I use to have a person like that, but once she I wasn't interested in keeping up with the gossip, she stopped calling.

Oh no - you got stuck . This is one of the reasons why I don't pick up the phone anymore - I don't want to get stuck - and with certain friends you just know that's going to happen . I hope she got it all out so she will not bother you for a while!

@DianneN Oh gosh - some people just don't take the hint, right? That's too funny about the doorbell after midnight . You can yell that there's a fire in your house and they'd still go on gabbing .

I got stuck, only because I didn't want to get stuck after dinner. Once she called at that time and it was impossible to get rid of her. I told her it was time for bed, but she went on gabbing. Hubs finally came downstairs and rang the doorbell a hundred times, and I told her had to go because we had guests. She hung up. Who would have guests after midnight?????? . She can be a real loon.

I know a few people like that. They just seem to have an issue communicating via phone. I absolutely love talking to them in person but will actively avoid speaking to them over the phone. I suspect it's more common than you think. Most communication is non-verbal so if you remove the visual aspects of the interchange it's understandable that some people might struggle a bit.

@DianneN Maybe she's one of those people who spend an entire conversation, rather than listening, just waiting for the other person to stop talking so they can say their piece.

At least she talks...I have a friend who calls and expects me to entertain him on the phone. Also, if I tell him I am doing something in particular, he will try to get me to do something else. It isn't his business. Then he wonders why I don't want to talk to him..

@lovinangelsinstead21 Once she called after dinner and talked past midnight. I told her it was way past my bedtime, and my hubs wanted me to go to sleep. No dice. I had him ring the doorbell just after midnight,(LOL) which she heard, and told her I had guests. She finally hung up! Who would have guests after midnight????????? She is such a loon!

Actually, she's one of those that doesn't listen when I try to get a word in. I've heard her typing, using an adding maching, running water, talking to her husband, etc. all while I was doing the talking.

Usually, this is the sign of a very lonely person. Once they find an ear to bend, they're certain to bend that ear until it's ready to fall off! My sister is exactly the same way. That's why she doesn't have my phone number!

@DianneN I tried being friends. She'd call every day, to talk for hours! Filling me in on everyone else's life, in her church and in her neighborhood When confronted she screamed, then told everyone about my faults! Nope, I got depressed trying to cope with a 'bi-polar' woman.
