Too Many Poems?

Someone once told me that I put too many poems on this site, and that this is a place for discussions, not poetry. To me it seems a bit odd to dismiss a post just because of it's form without considering it's content. Obviously we all choose which posts we want to read. I myself always skip over topics like politics or religion. but that's because I have no interest in them, not because of the way they are set out. My poems all tell a story or attempt to be funny - I just put them into rhyme. Anyway, to those of you who do seem to like them - thank you.

@JimBo452020 , others dislike perhaps they do not capture the theme , conflict, plot in a poem.

We can post whatever we want here. No one said poetry is not allowed. If someone doesn't like that you post too much poetry here that person can just ignore these posts. I haven't really posted my poems here much. I usually do that elsewhere. But maybe I will post more here from time to time.

That's what I thought - if someone doesn't like poems they can just move on, no need to tell me not to post them. A poem can lead to a discussion just the same as any other post.

@jaboUK I agree. If people can skip over political posts they can skip over poetry ones.

@jaboUK I agree with you. I wonder who that is who commented against your writing poetry here. I wonder what kind of posts he or she is writing here.

Poetry? No no no...that will not do here, it must simply be abolished at once! I can tell by the responses you have received to your previous posts that no one else here cares for it either, so maybe you should quit it. I wish people would send me PM messages like that...PM's are not 'filtered' at all and I can tell people EX-actly how I feel about their sh**.

@jaboUK Years upon centuries upon eons ago (pre-2013 in other words) a poem posted alone with no supporting discussion to it qualified to be deleted (as I found out when I posted one about my nephew dying in a crash). Of course I didn't agree with Alex about it, but I saw his point at the time. It is quite a bit more 'flexible' here these days...I guess maybe not everyone got the memo...

@myklj999 I didn't know that, but a poem can lead to a discussion just like a regular post can. I don't mean airy-fairy ones praising the trees and sky etc, but one that tells a story or raises a smile certainly can.

Some people are just negative nancy's with no sense of humor! I think 99 percent of people enjoy them, and for those who don't, or don't understand them..who needs em? In the immortal words of Garden Party, "You can't please everyone, ya gotta please yourself."

I like your poems and yes, they do have a story to tell. We are allowed to write about any topic we want. We have a choice to read whatever we want. Continue writing poetry on here as I love it. I also write a poem on Mylot. You are very welcome

are rules here that we cannot post poem? you are actually not posting much the past weeks and months, how could it be too many? and as you mentioned, we can always choose what post we want to read. such a rude and disrespectful comment.

@stephcjh but it is true if you follow people negative comments you will never get anything done you will think low of yourself you have low self-esteem of yourself you're always going to think what if I post it on someone to say this or says that it doesn't matter it's up to you you don't care if they like it yes or no as long as you like it and see that it is okay to be posted

@jabouk Perhaps that person would be better on a site that prohibits poetry. As you say, if you’re not interested in poetry you don’t have to read it. Please write some more and tag your complainer in it.

You have every right to post your content in whichever form you want it to be. As long as we all stick to guidelines, we are okay about posting anything and everything. This site has people of varied interests and each one will find discussions interesting to them and can respond. Else we are free to ignore.

People can be so petty. Why can't they just move on if they don't like something. Please don't stop putting up your stories in rhyme. I, and many others, really enjoy them.

I love to read your poems, they are always a highlight when I am reading and greatly appreciated. I agree with you about reading the religious or political posts, and the covid and vaccination posts are alot more then I tend to want to see. If you've read 1 about a shot and a sore arm is there another post which can differ?
