Obligatory Gatlinburg Photo

This is the obligatory Gatlinburg photo. Every time I come to the Smokies I head for the overlook on the Gatlinburg Bypass.
This shows that blue haze that’s common to the area and gave the national park its name, the Great Smoky Mountains. That isn’t smoke, or pollution. That haze has been around this area for a long time, with the Cherokee calling the area Shaconage (or the place of the blue smoke).
Regardless of when I come, I always head there first....just to see the blue hue and know that I am in the Smokies.
Thanks for coming along with me!

I’ve got “that view” in all kinds of photos: autumn, spring, summer, daylight, and dusk. Nothing says “you’re here” to me like that view!!

There was a bad wildfire in November 2016. It killed 14 people and did millions in damage. Lots of damage still clearly visible (see photo of burned trees I’ll attach to this comment).
