I have read somewhere here about a post about this fruit. I was curious and interested in getting one until when we visited one of our boss' house their neighbor had the plant planted right outside their backyard. It was full of the fruit and they gave it out to us so our driver collected as many as he can in a small cup. The fruit does not look appetizing as it looks like Chilli fruit. But when you take a bite the cover is slightly sour but the flesh is sweet and what is different about it is that after eating some your tongue will taste sweet when eating sour foods. We tried eating green mango to test and it tasted sweet indeed after several minutes eating this fruit.

That's quite interesting. It's my first time to hear about it. I don't suppose we have that on this island.

I do not know how widespread this plant is. But I know here in the Philippines there are several people aware of this fruit already. Some have even replanted the seeds already.

@flapiz It tastes sweet with a bit of sourness still. It is generally sweet I tried it with green mango and it seems the taste has turned sweet like there is some sugar of some sort covering the sourness of the fruit.

@rsa101 Yeah that's a very handy plant to have. So does the sour grout taste the same type of sweet when you eat it with the plant? Or does it taste like ripe version of the fruit?

I know this berry, it contains a molecule that binds to the tongue taste, this causes to the sour fruits to taste sweet.

@LadyDuck I hope you can get to taste this unique fruit. Some are claiming health benefits from this fruit but I am not vouching for that. I can only attest to the taste of the fruit as very good. I think I will eat more of this if given the chance to get it.

I really do not know its local name. It looks chili or not appetizing as it is red in color. Some call it miracle fruit. Some say it is good for diabetics. Although not sure about it yet.

Yeah, it is like an ordinary bush that bears reddish fruits. Not very appetizing to look at first since you wouldn't expect it to be edible. But when you taste it you will see that it taste good it taste like mangosteen fruit.
