No time for mischief at the moment

Today, we intend to saw up some old boards that have sitting down the paddock for quite a few years. They were intended for the rubbish tip but Vince offered to take them as they are perfectly good for firewood. We might also take a load of rubbish from the big shed to the tip. Tomorrow we have an early start as we’re going to a small town called Cardiff where we’ll take photos of some horse- trekkers before they leave on their ride. The trekkers travel a lot slower than the endurance riders but by lunchtime, they’ll be at Stockton Lake where they’ll be swimming their horses. Hopefully, we’ll get more nice photos there. Monday will be another early start to drive to the city to visit a lifestyle village and wander through their display homes. Our friends have recently moved in there so we’ll catch up with them at the same time. We have no time to get into mischief at the moment. Photo from a previous trekkers’ ride.

You'll be all set for winter. Sometimes I wish I had a fireplace but mobile homes generally don't have them.

@rebelann No idea really. We'll know more after tomorrow. I don't know if there are houses for sale in the estate or if they are still being built.

If we happen to move we won't have a fireplace but the new owners will benefit from the wood.

Sawing wood is a hard job. I had to saw a branch of a tree in the garden and it almost fell on my head when it finally detached. I will be more careful next time.

@JudyEv My husband does not even know that I was outside sewing some branches... at least I quickly did what I had to do without getting unsolicited "advice" all the time.

I am always telling Vince to be careful when he is chain-sawing branches. And now he is getting deafer it isn't much good yelling at him.

What kind of wood are you sawing up? If it's hardwood, it could be made into guitars. Richard Hoover, of Santa Cruz Guitars, an elite maker of guitars here in the Bay Area, is fascinated by "alternative" woods for guitars.

These were planks round a dressage arena originally but they are good jarrah planks (hardwood). Damian had a stick bass made from a variety of unusual Australian woods. I'll write about it if I ever find the invoice/description.

I'd do a lot better on the trekkers travel, because it's not a face paced ride. The horses will love taking a swim! Enjoy this time with your friends:)

This is very laid back and relaxing - much more suited to many riders. Only three horses went for a swim in the end but those three really enjoyed it.

@JudyEv Riding a horse at a leisure pace, that's what I'd enjoy! I'm not skilled with horses.
