I replied to a hiring post on FB. Name of poster was familiar, I thought maybe someone I know is her friend.
It is an online data entry job.
Problem is, this person on Facebook is moving way too fast.
Info first posted does not match all info given me on FB messenger.
She insisted I needed to get on Google hangouts immediately with an interview desk through my phone.
Google Hangouts, as I understand it, is no longer supported.
Person who was to interview never responded to invite.
I asked the original poster to delete my info. Best I could do.
I am not sure what was in it for her.
She is a sort of local person.

My profession, before it was retired from the computer world, was keypunch/data entry operator but for the life of me I can't figure out just how an operator is supposed to do that job from the internet ..... of course these days data entry may not mean what it did when I was one at my old job in the 1990s.

This was supposed to be a typing job and checking entries for accuracy. If I have to use a phone it would never be fast or accurate.

@LadyDuck It was non functional for this purpose for me, anyway. Maybe because I have a prepaid phone. I uninstalled the app.

@GardenGerty I do not know, because I use it on my computer, I also use a prepaid phone, to avoid bad surprises.

Good thing things didn't go that far. When people want to use gmail or hangouts for any reason, I tend to write them off. If someone can be bothered to message me on facebook, and ask me for my e-mail, then they can just as well continue the conversation on Facebook. It's just as secure, if not more secure than hangouts.

They actually could have called me for an interview.

@GardenGerty Yes, they could've, but scammers aren't going to do that. They'll avoid that option at all costs.

I am sure that you did this with good intentions.
What immediately comes to my mind is to contact the credit bureau so that the individual who has your resume, which probably includes your name and address, cannot open any accounts under your name.

Me too. It sounded like something I could start now and do even more this summer.

It felt quite strange. And she blocked comments on the original post, so no one could post any doubts about it.

I can only imagine it will be more spam phone calls. I deleted the hangouts app.

I deleted the hangouts app and they really do not have any other information from me.

It does and it made me wonder if her account had been hacked.

Yes, they are. I am needing work starting this summer. I do not get paid by the school in the summer.

Did you give her any of your personal information, such as bank details etc? If she was asking for this information it could have been a scam where somebody was collecting this sort of information to use for illegal purposes.
