Killing three birds with one stone!

I reported a week or two ago that I had booked my Covid-19 vaccinations. Now I’m happy to report that I received the first one a few days ago and all has gone well. It turned out to be quite a nice morning so I decided to cycle. Of course as soon as I set off it started to rain, but luckily that didn’t last long. I cycled through the village and then over the river, through another village and then along a cycle path to the football stadium which has been adopted as a regional vaccine centre. It was a pleasant 20-minute ride and I avoided the queue of cars getting in to the car park. There was a little bit of a wait to get in - people were moving forward slowly in a socially-distanced queue, all wearing masks. I had taken a book to read in case there was a wait but I only got through a couple of pages before I was inside, handing over my reference number, answering a few questions and then a couple of minutes/pages of my book later I was ushered into a little cubicle. All the staff and volunteers were very friendly and jolly. The nurse seemed a little disconcerted that I watched her sticking the needle in my arm - apparently most people don’t - but in a couple more minutes I was back out again. They recommended I didn’t cycle for 15 minutes (people with cars were advised to sit in their car for 15 minutes just in case of any side-effects) but since it was only a 20 minute ride home I set off anyway - I mean how bad could they be? If anything hit me that badly I reckoned I could just get off and walk - and I’d be nearer home! As it happened all was fine, the sun came out, I had a nice ride home and even saw these guinea fowl wandering free on a village green! So I got my vaccine, and a bit of fresh air and exercise, and of course (sadly) I also did my good deed for the day and picked up a basket-full of discarded cans and bottles too. So three things achieved! All rights reserved. © Text and image copyright Fleur 2021.

@fleura When I was Pfizered two weeks ago it was a communal affair, 6 of us sitting in a circle. Bizarre. Mine went well too. Never go anywhere without a book.

You should see how our folks are behaving. We are going to become a factory of this virus.

Did you sprout a third eye in the middle of your forehead or horns since you got your first vaccine shot? I've even heard of people who sprouted a extra legs and arms, too! Just ask @vandana7 about all the troubles she's had since she got her first vaccine shot!

@Fleura Aw... it may depend upon which vaccine you took I suppose. Next time try COVISHIELD. You might get extra pair of hands and a long tail which will help you beat up anybody who is annoying you with impunity as such crimes are not yet defined in law books.

@vandana7 Don't tell her things like that, vanny! She might decide she's tired of me teasing her all the time and decide to beat me up! Would you want to be responsible for that happening to me? I'm always nice to you!

I am glad you were fine. They keep you in a room for 15 minutes here, they do not let you go away immediately.

It is scary to sit in that room with many others.

@LadyDuck We sit in a room that has almost 50 people. So yeah..the thought is scary because it is a room.

@vandana7 You sit in a room ALONE, not with many others. I went to my doctor to get the vaccine and he kept me more than 15 minutes because I had a serious reaction.

Glad you had your vaccination. We were not allowed to leave for 15 minutes. They timed us and told us when our time was up. I didn’t bring in anything that could get contaminated except what they needed and extra hand sanitizer.

@Fleura Thanks. I'm a bit nuts over it all as my husband keeps telling me. Better safe than sorry. Covid scares the heck out of me.

I'm glad you got the fresh air as you went for your vaccine. It is sad how people trash the environment without thinking about how it affects every living creature.

You're right there. I honestly can't understand what people are thinking, when they go to some 'beauty spot' and scatter litter everywhere. If they arrived there and found the same litter all over the place they probably wouldn't like it!

I had my first jab about two weeks ago and I was surprised at how easy it was. I went straight in , and I was out after a couple of minutes.

I came to find out if you ate those birds. Evil Grin. Kidding. I think eggs of pigeons stink. Dad broke one this morning. But glad your vaccination went well. I wish I can be brave like you to pick up cans and bottles on the road.
