Tinker at Christmas 2020

I have a shed that is all mine. I put sewing and crafting stuff, and gardening stuff in it. I am in and out of it often. I looked in it about three times since Tinker went missing, and I put things in there. Well Lo and Behold, I went out to put something in it, opened the door, and from the back recesses of the shed under a chair, I heard "Mew" and "Mew". Lots of kitty talk. Tinker had been hiding in my shed all along. Poor baby! He looks none the worse for wear, though. Bob was thrilled! Tinker is in our bedroom on our bed right now.

I am glad Tinker came home. But why the shed vacation?

He was upset, because Mickey was hit by a car. (we believe deliberately). I tried keeping Tinker in a few days, and when he got out, he just stayed. He believes that since the shed is mine, it is his and he should explore.

@TheHorse Yes, he was. This town does not have very much traffic at all and slow speed limits and good visibility.Based on what the person told me we know it was between 5:30 and 6 in the evening. I can see the tire tracks where the car came up in the edge of the yard.

@rebelann I let him out after 4:30 in the morning. He pestered all night. He was good and came back quickly and came in before dark without being called. He settles himself to watch my chair when I am not home, Bob says.

I want a bigger set up, but will not get it soon. I would then let hubby put "stuff"in this shed close to the house. Maybe I should just build Tinker a shed.

@paigea He has been known to get up on top of the garage shed, then complain that he cannot get down, but he does.

@GardenGerty I am so glad you found Tinker. I have had times where I looked all over for my cat and we have a very small apartment and later after I could not look any longer she would come out and wonder what the fuss was about. That is really good news that you found Tinker. I bed Bob was really happy. Did you guys do a happy dance and did Tinker join in. I bed Tinker was worn out.

Tinker, as you describe your cat, says "what is all the fuss about?" He was asking out again, all night. I would not let him until morning.

@Hannihar This is just it. People do not understand. There are things that scare Tinker. In our community when the weather is nice some people ride horses on the road. Tinker is scared of the horses and runs for the house.

@GardenGerty I wish I could get through to my cat about some things and it sounds like Tinker does not understand why you want to wait till morning the let him out. I believe when Sophie goes through traumatic experiences I think she has learned. For example: She was out one day all day and night and did not know how to get back home. When I saw how quiet it was here I looked out because she would go on the roof to this house that sits in front of our building and she was afraid to let come off of it into my arms and let me bring her in the building. Too many people around bother her. So I told her to go on to the porch of the people below us. She is very smart and understood and went there. So, I thought it would be a piece of cake but when I knocked on the door the woman was in the bathroom with the door half closed and the guy and the baby were in the apartment. She would not let me come in and get my cat. I tried other ways but they gave me no choice so had to call the police to get her back. They came and I got her and took her upstairs to our apartment. That was abuse and people that know nothing about animals do not care and after that the woman from across the street in the building across from ours was talking very loudly to someone about it. I understood. People around here do not understand about pets and not all can have children. Of course she would believe the one that lived below me. I did not like her at all. They moved out thank heavens.

He could not get out of the shed until I opened it again. He must not have felt he needed to get out when I first looked.

Tinker is a neutered male, but yes, he likes any place he should not be. I tell people he acts like a big dumb jock--14 lbs. and sometimes he just acts like he has no clue what is happening. He is a lovable big hunk.
