Back after a long time....Virus scare.

Good afternoon from this side of the planet. It's 4:22 PM as I write this post. I am here after a long time. Phew! April has been a crazy month so far. In fact, we are living in crazy times. Fear is lurking around globally. The second wave of the pandemic has been scarier. And we are in uncertain times and we have to hold on to our faith with silent prayers in our hearts for the whole humanity. We all need prayers in all corners of world. First week of month went busy with all report handling and meeting parents virtually for final report discussion before the vacation. Yes, the school is closed till end of May and we will start with fresh academic year in June. And we teachers had to meet physically on 8 April before the school closed. And that one meeting cost me a lot. As soon as I was back from school, I got the news that my colleagues sitting next to me on my both sides are showing symptoms. We were all masked and our chairs were distanced. They got tested and were positive for virus.. I too got my test done and was positive. Luckily, I had no fever but yes I had severe headache and by fourth day I was too weak. As a precaution we all got tested in family. My elder one turned out positive. My husband and younger daughter are negative. My daughters report came on 15. Now our house is in quarantine till 2 May. We are in home isolation and managing with our medication through video consultation with our doctor. Fortunately we had no symptoms except weakness and headache. And now we are in recovery mode. I am almost okay while my elder daughter is having some bit of fatigue left. She too should be okay in few days. The cases in our apartment is rising alarmingly and we had two young lives lost to this ruthless virus in last 10 days. Our apartment is a containment zone with 50 cases. Well, that's the sad update. I had all the time but no energy and mood to be here. Prayers for everyone who is battling this virus around the world. Let's hope for mercy from Nature.

I was so concerned not seeing you around, I thought you were busy for the school, but I feared it was the virus. Stay at home and take care, try to rest as much as you can. I am sure your family will get better soon.

We have no symptoms now since last three days. Our quarantine gets over on 2 May. Then we will get the testing done again to see if it's negative. So far, we are recovering well. Hope that soon the virus is in control. We had enough of suffering across the world.

I was wondering why you were not around. I am sorry you caught the virus. Hope you are feeling better now. Do take care. Masks are no longer sufficient with the mutant. Eyes too allow the virus to get in.

@arunima25 It is airborne alright. Spraying now and then helps. The gentleman in our building who got it, goes to the extent of getting up early and spraying disinfectant in his corridor.

Actually Vanny, I always drive with my sunglasses. And in the meeting, I had my reading glasses on. I had double mask and kept sanitizing my hands but still.... I have heard of cases where people have stayed indoors for weeks with no interactions from outsiders and without maid but still get the virus. It seems to be airborne now. It's scarier and a disaster right now. We just hope and pray that we win it and come out stronger. We are much better but with virus we need to be cautious even after full recovery. The weakness is the main thing. It will take some time to overcome that.

Yes, the second wave in India has been vicious Happy that you have recovered and also your daughter. This virus is so contagious. Went for the second jab today but the hospital was crowded - did not feel comfortable. No side effects so far. Take care and pray your family is safe.

@arunima25 In times of common danger unity is needed more than ever. Democracy and freedom cannot come at any cost - we need discipline, cooperation, and coordination. Though it was an ordeal to wait for hours to get vaccinated, I was touched by others who lifted my spirits by their attitude, patience, and forbearance. And the medical staff - they are a different breed. God bless them. I do hope this tough phase is soon history for you.

@Shiva49 Very true. I see covid warriors working with all their might... doctors, nurses, social worked, men in uniform, regular people who are helping people day in and out. A big salute to them. We all will live till the aayu( age) we are given. One has to live it worthwhile. I pray that soon it will be a History and we will tell our next generation that humanity stood together against the crisis and won it.

It's scarier than the first one. We are sticking to the hope that we will fight and come out victorious. I go by the belief that India is strong and we will come out of it after a tough fight. We just need to stay together and do our possible bit. Good that you are vaccinated. Husband had booked but then we got quarantined and he couldn't take it. Now I need to wait for six weeks after full recovery for vaccination. Thank you for your concern and comforting words.

This is a sad report but am glad you are feeling better now. International news has it that India has buckled up, the hospitals overwhelmed, oxygen tanks running out, etcetera. Such a dire situation which, at this moment of time, the only recourse perhaps is to calm down and remind the people to take responsibility and help themselves. Quarantining is necessary. The nature of the virus is to get on a human host. No to social gathering. Definitely the cause of the spread of the virus. Information dissemination on how to heal one's self is a must. Tell people to steam - rock salt on hot water. Prevents the virus from totally infecting the lungs. Drink as much hot tea with citrus juice. Prayers for you and your family.

@arunima25 Another harrowing day about CoViD-19 mortality yesterday. Man is failing in the fight as of the moment. There are still people who are helpless and do not know what to do. It's another story for people who still deny the virus and refuse protocol. It has been a long terrible battle for all of us. Yet we have no choice but to fight and overcome. You and the family must get your energy back completely. We need good soldiers to win the war.

Thank you for your concern and comforting words. Yes, breaking the chain is the most important thing to do. I am taking all measures that you mentioned. I just did steam inhalation and gargle with rock salt. Taking lots of water, warm fluids and citrus fruits. We are recovering well. No symptoms in last few days. The weakness should also go slowly in some time.

@eileenleyva It's a tough fight. Whole world is suffering. Countries need to stand together and fight. But sadly the divide between developed and underdeveloped is there in time of crisis too. We shall fight and we are sure that we will overcome. Let's stay positive and do our bit in this fight.

Oh that's sad. My elder brother was positive. My son and wife are having fever from last 4-5 days . They have not taken the test because in the government hospitals tests are not being conducted also there is lots of rush there. Yes last few days were very scary for all of us and who knows what's going to happen in the coming days.
