I’m Going Bananas!

I ordered what I thought were 6 bananas, yesterday, but received 6 bunches. Who on earth can eat 6 bunches of bananas? One bunch is missing from the photo, because our son, who was visiting yesterday for 4 hours, lol, took it home. Hubs and I just returned from a long walk on this perfect spring day. We gave 3 bunches to various neighbors. Now we have two bunches. I will make banana nut bread with the leftovers. Our son’s girlfriend is away with her mother visiting various National parks for a week, so we invited him for appetizers and will order pizzas for an easy-peasy dinner tonight. Perhaps a banana for dessert? ***If a crocodile makes shoes, what does a banana make?*** ***Slippers***

You could make many "slippers" there . Nice of you to give them to neighbors! I have cut up extra bananas to stick in the freezer, but there's only so much of that you want to keep around. Just what will your son do for a whole week? I hope he doesn't go bananas .

Thanks and agreed. As for my son, he spent 4 hours with us yesterday and five hours today. In between, he and his gf text or he works. Poor kid.

Groaner. myLot is full of punnies today. I have heard that if you put foil over the stem end they will not get too ripe too fast. Enjoy them every way you can.

Well the simple answer is - me, probably! I love bananas. You can peel the bananas and freeze them to use later in smoothies or cakes etc. You can make banana fritters or just pan fry slices of banana (you can make a Spanish breakfast dish with rice, fried banana and fried eggs) or mix banana pieces into a sort of curry-style dish (I like to make a spicy pork stew with peanut butter and banana). Fill pancakes with banana and chocolate spread, or cut a slit down the length of an unpeeled banana, push a few pieces of chocolate inside, then wrap it all up in foil and bake it (in the oven ought to work - usually do this in the embers of a barbecue) - when soft, scoop out the chocolatey inside with a spoon. Banana ice-cream : ) It's a shame I'm not closer

One banana every other day is more than enough for me. I prefer them plain right out of the peel, but do like the baked banana with the chocolate inside! Thanks!

I love bananas. You can make many delicious food with them. Have you tried wrapping a banana in a lumpia wrapper and fried it? Then eat it with honey. Yummy! My favorite dessert.

@DianneN A lumpia wrap is round and you put something in it and fold it and than fry it. They are really good.

@DianneN A lumpia wrapper is a spring roll wrapper used in wrapping the spring roll. You can buy it in an Asian shop. The spring roll wrappers are sold in square.

One of my favourite desserts is a banana split. And growing up we often had what we called 'banana custard' which was just bananas sliced and put in custard.
