a new (to us) car!

We lost a vehicle in a collision a few months ago and have been looking around for a replacement vehicle since then. We finally found a new one through Craigslist and finalized the sale today! It's a 1998 Volvo station wagon in awesome condition --- it was owned by a little old lady who can't drive it anymore and has less than 58K miles on it. We bought it for less than $4000 and are very happy with the sale. It has some minor damage around one of the headlights (which have wipers!), but that's really the only complaint we have and it's easily repaired. How is your Saturday going?

We were really happy to find such a good car for the price. The owner had all the paperwork nicely organized too.

It's starting to get warm around here and the grass is browning. Our spring was all too brief!

Wow, that's a really kool find. Wipers on headlights? Wow, that's different.

Yeah, the wipers are so novel! I imagine they'd be more helpful if we lived in a snowy area.

They'd also be helpful if you happen to live in an area that gets lots of rain. I wonder if they'd be strong enough to wipe away mud that could splash on them from the road due to cars in front of you?

@rebelann They might be! I'm afraid we won't see any more rain until November or so, we're about to enter our hot and dry season.

Not having a car is really a pain here but somehow I have survived!!1 I can afford to buy a car but can't afford the insurance and I won't drive without it!

@spiderdust I drove a Volvo for a little while right before I moved from Portland to Pensacola. It was ok. But I didn't have it long enough to really make an informed decision about it. But yours looks like it's in good shape.

Sounds good...I am keeping my eyes open for a vehicle too. I want to get one when it is time for this to be inspected July Aug timeframe. I don't want to spend any more money on this car.

You should have the car fully inspected by a licenced machinc. I'm sorry, but a car isn't something I'd buy off of Creg's list.

I do understand what you're saying.. We've had good luck with it in the past. This was a good experience as well.

This looks really good. I was so sad when we had to change our 1999 Ford Fiesta car, but the pollution tax was so high that it was less expensive to buy a new car.

@porwest Now I keep thinking of a John Waters film when you show up. I'm really pleased with the car. I keep joking that we must be full-fledged adults now because we own a Volvo.
