First photo of our new house

I’ve slept in five different beds in five days and haven’t been able to log on but now we should be home for a while. We’ve enjoyed our time away. We attended an endurance ride, an 80th luncheon and a 75th sundowner and also checked out some furniture and white goods for the new home we’ll be moving into soon. We weren’t able to go through our new home but I took photos of the front and back of the house. We went through the display home of the same design and took measurements of the fridge/washer space, etc. A fortnight tomorrow is settlement and also the day we move. I’ll head off now to check out some of your posts although I won’t be long out of bed. The photo is of the house from the village side and shows the main bedroom on the left and the double garage on the right. You can see there is very little space down the left-hand side. On the extreme left of the garage, a door leads to another narrow space down the right-hand side of the house.

Its cute but tiny compared to what you are used to. Those houses are very close together. No parties without inviting all of the neighbors.

That's very true. I guess we'd have our parties in the clubroom which is very nice.

Hi Judy, I am just now back and surprised to see you are moving. But we have pretty close neighbors too and no problems.

@JudyEv I understand. We did not get rid of enough "stuff" and can't put a car in the garage.

Welcome back. We're a bit surprised we're moving too! But we do feel it's probably the right time for us to downsize.

@JamesHxstatic We have a double garage but I don't know when we'll be able to get the cars in. We might sell my little car as there doesn't seem much point in keeping it. That would free up half the garage for DIY projects and/or storage.

Your new home is lovely, but so close to other homes, I know it's just a matter to get the habit to live close to people.

@JudyEv When we moved from Italy to Monte Carlo we went from a very large apartment to a very small one. We got used to that one and we were happy there during 31 years.

In a way, it's not our choice to have such a small area but, as you say, we'll get used to it in time.

@LadyDuck I think it is very 'freeing' to rid yourself of clutter. We don't need half the things we have.

There is nothing quite like your own bed even if you're having a nice time.

It is indeed and so much smaller. There is a lot of storage but some of it is high up. But we have stuff that we won't need to access too often.

It's a lot smaller than your current home. It looks nice. No chance of kangaroos with your morning coffee.

I should think it will be very strange getting used to. Luckily, we still have the caravan and will get out into the country at least every fortnight while we're taking photos.

Thanks for the good wishes. I was thinking of buying a little stone lamb and putting it on the tiny patch of lawn at the back.

Looks like a lovely home and I'm sure you'll be happy to be moved in and settled. I love the idea of no stairs and even though I said I'd never move again, the thought does cross my mind occasionally.

There are built with wheelchairs and 'mobile aids' in mind. The shower has no 'lip' or door and the passage is extra wide.

@JudyEv I would love that especially the shower. I have to step in and out of mine . I'm thinking of having my son put in some bars that I can hold onto when getting in and out

@arunima25 Thanks. I have done a lot but there is still a fortnight to go so there is also quite a bit I can't pack yet. I do get pretty sad from time to time but then I give myself a good talking to and carry on packing.

@JudyEv I can understand. It's like uprooting yourself and replanting somewhere again. It needs a lot of planning to pack, clear up , discard, donate etc. You must be going through a lot of emotional stuff too. Take care. Hope all goes smooth
