Chickenjoy lunch! (a few days late)

This is probably mostly interesting to my Filipino readers, but we have a Jollibee not far from my workplace. Last week I went there for some lunch and got a Chickenjoy tenders meal with fries (and gravy for dipping both my fries and tenders) and a drink.
Unless you're from the Philippines or one of the United States cities that has a Jollibee, you've likely never heard of this place. It's a Filipino fast-food chain similar to McDonald's, but with a focus on Filipino tastes (like pancit palabok or their special spaghetti with sliced hot dogs in the sauce or ube hand pies). You can order burgers there as well, either with fries or mashed potatoes or rice on the side.
The chicken is usually my favorite, but I also enjoy their burger steaks with mushroom gravy. I almost always get a side of gravy whenever I order fries from them, as I am originally from Pennsylvania and love my gravy fries!
What did you have for lunch today?

That sounds interesting... but yeah, I've never heard of that restaurant chain.
Uhm... dad burned me out on eating gravy. He had to have biscuits and gravy for breakfast every day. I still don't want gravy... and dad passed away when I was 13. (Mom couldn't stand gravy by the time dad passed away, either.)

That's ok, you could get ranch or BBQ as a dipping sauce instead.
We didn't have gravy and biscuits every day, but my mom did make hamburger gravy on toast for us pretty often. I actually liked that as a breakfast or light dinner growing up. It's closer to the white sausage gravy though, although with less seasoning.

Gravy is something famous or popular when you will come to India...
I don't know how you will react to it when you said you burned down to eat gravy
@vandana7 can clear you how people fight in restaurants for Gravy

@spiderdust I usually don't want any dipping sauce with my chicken or fries. As long as the fries are hot and have a bit of salt on them, I'm good.
White gravy is what mom always made for dad. Sometimes she'd make it with sausage in it but usually it just had seasoning. I still don't want any.

@rebelann My "gravy fries at a diner" days were in my teens while hanging out with friends.

Ketchup is also good with fries. The gravy fries are... well, think of gravy on mashed potatoes, but with the brown caramelized flavor of the fries. They were also good when you wanted something more than just plain fries but didn't have a lot of money.

Yay for Jollibee!
Try dipping your freshly cooked hot fires in vanilla ice cream. Thank me later.

@spiderdust I do this too. The Wendy's soft serve ice cream is called Frostee here in the Philippines.
My favorite food from Jollibee is their Champ. Basically, the counter-part of McDonald's Big Mac. OF course, I also like Chicken Joy and its spicy version. Jollibee burgers are juicer compared to that of McDonald's that is why I prefer Jollibee over McDonald's.

A popular thing around here is dipping fries in a chocolate Frosty (which is sold as a very thick milkshake, but it's pretty much chocolate soft serve ice cream) from the Wendy's fast-food restaurant.

OHhhh. We have one Jollibee sort of locally . . . I have known about it for years from my Fil friends but have never ventured in there (been meaning to but you know how it goes).
Today's lunch wasn't much of a lunch for me. Took out a bunch of little containers in the fridge of leftovers and ate that

I have tried mixing 2-3 things together.... Found out that 3 different veggies in fridge with rice and form a good tasty food too. So leftovers can be a converted into good lunch too

@spiderdust For me, the sauce they put has become less and not as sweet and meaty.
I used to look forward to it every time we ate at Jollibee.

@lady1993 Oh, no. It's disappointing when companies cut the quality of foods in order to keep the prices down (and profit margins high).

I think we have a few here because there's a very large Filipino population in the area. My daughter's friends were always talking about it and describing it as "the Filipinio McDonalds".

It looks like there's one in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah, but I don't know how far away that is from where you live.

I've not had lunch yet. Thinking about that cause its getting toward noon and my stomach is beginning to holler. I made fresh bread last night so maybe a sandwich.

Glad to know you patronize Jollibee. It's one of our pride. When I was in college in the late 70's I used to frequent their small place. I always love the burger and sundae. I don't remember any chicken then. The burger was being served on a platter brought by a waiter.
