Going away. . .

I feel protective of the kittens, and concerned that I cannot find safe, happy homes for them. My niece is fantastic with hers. I am glad they came and chose one. The rest of the kittens have a reservation at "Caring Hands" which is a no kill shelter. They will get to be together, be socialized, and be kept until they can be spayed or neutered. They have screening programs for people who want to adopt. People around here do not take good care of kittens when they adopt them. I was scared they would want them for bait for dog fights, etc. I could have taken them to be "farm cats" but that does not have a good life expectancy either. Caring Hands was a good choice and I was glad they had openings. Next week we will have Angel spayed. She is already "calling" for the male cats in our neighborhood. Tinker will get his yearly shots next week as well. I feel sad about taking the babies away, but not really. This is their best chance. So that is how we will spend our afternoon today.

That's a good choice for those babies. I hear rumors about dog fight clubs in my area, too. I am a strong believer in spaying and neutering and adopting rather than buying from a backyard breeder. My Rufus dog has been a handful and part of that is who knows what happened with him before we adopted him but its still a better idea to take him in than look for a breeder.

This place has an excellent reputation. I have gone to their website and seen pictures of their kitties. They are still doing everything by appointment. We will leave a decent donation as well. It is just less stressful for me to know that they are taken care of. Then we can get Angel finished drying up so her surgery is easier. She really wants to go outside and cannot.

It is hard and I do not always trust the people around here. I am glad for this shelter.

The shelter has room, and they will have a shot at getting new forever homes.

Yes, I never wanted to contribute to the pet population.

You made a great decision I believe. I would have done the same thing. I would worry if I allowed them to go to homes I wasn't sure about. I know it was hard to go through but good job.

You're doing your best to help these precious babies. I know just what you mean when you say that you are concerned. I was so concerned about the welfare of all of the kitties in my old neighborhood that I just adopted all of them! I probably had about 20 at one time. If I had to go back and do it all over, I would. My husband and I love our cats dearly.

I could not afford to keep them and do all the shots and spay and neuter them as they matured. I have four adults that I am keeping.

@GardenGerty It does get quite expensive; that's for sure. Four cats is a big responsibility. Whatever we can do, we just try to do our best.

That's a good choice for them. I would feel the same way as you do too. I'm very protective of my fur babies.

I have found that many in my small town are not cat friendly. This place is in a much larger town with better people.

That is good you found a place. Most here do not guarantee no kill, Several years ago our humane society got busted out by the dog warden. The humane society said they were no kill. Basically true as they would send them over to the dog pound for that.
