Today's tally - two desks, two chairs and half a wardrobe

We moved to a brand new house and left much of our furniture behind. We bought a number of Ikea units and have been busy putting them together. We’ve done the easy ones first but now we’re up to the last of them for the moment. Today we made a cupboard which goes under one end of our desk units, and we made up the desks. We also put together two office chairs then got started on a wardrobe for our bedroom. We have put together two units which will be joined then fitted out with hanging rails and some drawers. The hardest part will be when we come to put mirrored doors in place. Hopefully, that will all happen tomorrow. We’ve been really impressed with the quality of the Ikea products and, if you follow their plan very carefully, then it all fits together without too much trouble. The photo shows our new office.

We liked the similar ones that we installed at the old place so hopefully the new ones will be equally as nice.

@DaddyEvil They're looking good so far but we have knocked off for the day. Vince's back has had enough for the moment.

We reckon we have room. Vince will sit at the end on the right. Mostly we're just sitting typing at our computers so we don't tend to get in each other's way.

It looks functional. I have an Ikea floorlamp in my bedroom. It is kind of a Japanese lantern style and I really like it. It didn't cost that much either.

The wire baskets I wrote about were cheap as chips. This setup wasn't really expensive either. I like that you can mix and match to come up with something that suits your particular circumstances.

I am impressed every time by the quality of the Ikea products and they are doing better now about the assembling, it's easier than in the past. Good luck with the mirrored doors.

@JudyEv I always download the instructions online where there are many pictures, easier to follow.

We have puzzled over some of the instructions from time to time but then the penny drops and we understand what they mean. It's probably a good idea just having pictures.

IKEA has some good products. I thought about going to the huge center near Portland (it's a bit over an hour away), and find a wardrobe. I just don't like putting things together. I like your desk workspace.

Here, they will arrange for someone to assemble their products if you don't want to do it yourself. They do have a lot of innovative products.

Some of the things go together more easily than other parts. I thought the chairs would be really tricky but they were very, very simple.

We looked at the picking slip/account today and the stuff we'd ordered came to almost half a ton in weight. And measured just over a cubic metre.

You had to chuck away many old furniture before you moved, because they didn't fit your new house.Putting them together must be a piece of cake to Vince.

@changjiangzhibin89 That is true and we have a much smaller lounge suite which fits better than the big, old one would have.

The folk who bought our house also bought a lot of the furniture which saved us paying to have it moved. It also meant we could buy items that fit this house better - ones that don't take so much room.

Great job. We have an IKEA about 45 miles from us but we haven't had a need for anything. Perhaps one day we'll go and check it out. I think when my Dad moved from Alabama to Kentucky bought some new stuff from them instead of having it moved.

We sold a lot of our furniture to the new owners. Also we needed a smaller lounge, etc here because of the limited space.
