Bad news or good news? I'm not yet sure.

Our kitchen redo may be coming to a halt.
I found out this afternoon via my sister that Ikea stock is low and there might be up to a six month wait. We don't know if it's because manufacturers can't find workers or whether people being at home now during the pandemic decided to get their own kitchens done too.
I'm going to see whether our handigal can open up the soffits above the cupboards to at least see if that will work out. My sister's cupboards go all the way to the ceiling which gives more room for storage. Ours currently have a dead space over the top of the cupboards that might have wiring inside them. We're not sure how easily they might be able to be removed.
But my husband said we should wait on that too and I wasn't thinking of the dust and mess it would spew everywhere. So for now it's all on hold.
We are going to IKEA this week to see what they would look like and talk about shortages with the staff. My husband never been there and when my sister took me before I don't remember looking at cupboards.
At least now I'll have time to paint my walls and ceiling and continue getting rid of things I don't really need it use. That's what makes it good news
The flowers are two views of the same plant that's been bidding for awhile now. It's a day lily. I don't remember it coming up last year. I guess it's have to take a look at least year's photos to know for sure.

@DianneN I'm not worried about it. Mostly that even with the delay I won't be read with what's still left to do

Most of those cupboards are being shipped in, from another country. It was the same dilemma with out door. It took six weeks, just to get them shipped. Then, even longer to await for their arrival. Your day lilies are gorgeous!

I'm happy the lilies are blooming again and I can wait on the cupboards whatever the reason. I've had to lean on God and wait for people so what's one more thing?

It is hard to be sure of the cause of a delay, but maybe even more good will come out of it.

We will find out tomorrow just how bad it really is. At least we can look at them and see them from more than a catalog.
How you been? Haven't seen you around for a long time.

What I can say is that you have both good and bad news to share. Enjoy your day

I would guess a mix of both. Stocking and shipping have never been the same since the lockdowns started. Many workers quit when the rules were lifted and employers could over work them. This applies mostly to factory workers who stock wearhouses and truck drivers that hual shipments. In addation, now companies have to allow woorkers to stay home if they get sick. Then you have people who'd rather live off unemployment than work.

I'm sure all of that has a play in the outcome.

I'm thinking that will be the case. I can downsize what I don't use before putting it all back away for starters. I may do a thing on the city's yard sale site for free items.

Ikea stock is low in your country because of port disruption in Europe. Ports have been hit by surging demand for imports caused by countries reopening after lockdown. I think that things should go back to normal quickly and Ikea will receive what they ordered to their company in Europe.

Hope there isn't too much of a snag in getting your kitchen finished. Guess you won't know until you go to Ikea and see how long it will take for the cabinets. But, as you said, at least you have time to finish getting rid of things and getting the walls painted.
