As a gift, I gave my recently turned 13 year old granddaughter a pearl necklace hoping she wouldn’t be too young for them.
Well, now I know. She loves them and her parents discussed how special and costly they are. She truly understands. What a relief!
As an added birthday gift, I gave her one of my barely used pink Gucci purses. My son called to tell me she used it already when she went to ice skating practice. I died laughing! It was secured in her classroom of friends, so I relaxed.

That was an extremely generous gift. I wouldn't have given it to someone only 13 years old. I didn't get my grandmother's pearls until she passed away at the age of like 91.They are reeeeeally long. My mother gave me a pearl bracelet back when I was in college as a thank you for throwing a surprise anniversary party for them. Somewhere along the way I got a shorter pearl necklace. I honestly don't remember how. That is the one that I wear when I bust out the pearls--the shorter necklace and the bracelet.
I did get a GINORMOUS topaz pendant necklace from my Grandma's collection. I absolutely adore it but never think to put it on. It is like the Hope Diamond of topazes!

It’s her birthstone and money is no object when it comes to family.
Your jewelry sounds fabulous! We are jewelry lovers. She received some expensive Tiffany jewelry from her parents’ friends and others. It’s her time to begin collecting. However, both grandmas bought her David Yurman necklaces when she was born. She’s our princess, so what can I say?

Ohhhh - I'm glad you chose the perfect gift for her then (and to think the men thought she wouldn't wear the pearls - hmph!). The purse was a hit too! Her grandmother knows her mini-me best
