It's pouring rain...

Hail woke us up yesterday morning at 4:30 am... then thunder and lightning... and then the rain poured down... The forecast here is calling for rain all week. We're under a flood warning. No morning walk. (For some reason, Pretty doesn't want to get wet. ) If someone wants to string a hose over here, I'll help you put it into the drainage ditch at the end of my yard. Or bring tanker trucks... Or cup water into your hands... Are you getting enough rain right now? Drainage ditch at the end of my yard. Photo is mine.

I have to agree with Pretty. I also don't like to get wet. No rain on my side. Obviously this weather report is never accurate.

She waded through puddles yesterday and then took her shoes off in the car and dumped the water onto the floor mats. I had to take the floor mat and hang it in the laundry room to dry. *sigh* She just wasn't thinking.

Drainage Ditch - or Rainwater Harvesting structure? You are sure going to get a lot of rains or as someone says "Helluva lot of rain!!". Perhaps we need a Technology for a quick flying saucer shaped plane which can store excess rainwater from one location on the earth and transport to another location on the earth. May be we would have one by 2100, if earth survives by then.

@sjvg1976 That's true... Our house is higher than most of them in our city. We don't need to fear floods to our house. The streets we might need to drive on could flood but then we just find different streets to use.

Is it the rainy season at your place now? I hope you get enough without the flooding. You might want to pass your extra rain to others there in India. Some of them haven't gotten any yet.

We're still getting rain... The first day was the only really heavy rain so far. It's just been sprinkling the rest of the time.

@DaddyEvil The weather does not sound good to me there. I do not blame her for not wanting to get wet. One can get sick walking in rain if they have a choice not to. Our rain only comes in the winter months. We do not always get enough.

Luckily, we live on a hill in the city, so we are safe enough. I do feel sorry for people who live at a lower elevation here. I hope you get the rain you need this year.

@DaddyEvil We are done getting rain this year and so have to hope that we get enough next year. I am glad you live on a hill. I was in a flood where I once lived in the States and when moved up higher no flood.

i love the many descriptions of rain. Pouring, ok, implies a huge bucket in the sky and lots of water fast. drizzle, its like ice cream running down your chin because you didn't lick fast enough. But the best all time phrase - it was raining side ways. love that one!

I've been in rains that came at me sideways. It's usually not fun. At the other house, we had a deck on the front of the house that was over eight feet deep. When the rain could still reach you that far back, you knew you were in trouble! (Tornadoes could drive the rain into the deck that far but little else could do it.)

@DocAndersen You shouldn't stand under trees when it's raining, let alone during a tornado! You're lucky you could dive into the gully! I've had two friends who stayed under a tree in a storm. The lightning killed them.

@DaddyEvil many years ago while hiking in Indiana a storm popped up. For some unknown reason I decided to stay at the edge of the forest, near a deep gully. I dived into the gully when I saw the tornado coming. It destroyed the tree I had been standing under.

@DaddyEvil Thank you and yesterday what came down from the sky were fine raindrops that lasted long enough which made it difficult for me to find the warmth of the sun which produced vitamin D to strengthen my immune during self-isolation because I had covid, but last Monday I had an antigen swab and the result was negative. Good morning from here it's teusday now

That would be so nice! We usually end up with snow storms during the winter. (The last two dumped 8 inches and then 10 inches of snow on us. Shoveling the driveway both times was no fun at all.)
