Well, not exactly physically. He is a sweetie, but thought that I would be a good candidate for a clinical trial.
I went today and spent an hour at Yale New Haven hospital to take part in a study that, hopefully, will eliminate the need for colonoscopies for colorectal cancer screenings within two years.
Just some paperwork, a blood test, a box to take a stool sample tomorrow or so, and instructions to have it picked up.
Still having my colonoscopy next week, but am pleased to help. And to top it all off, I was surprised to hear that I will receive $175 for my troubles.

@rebelann My gastroenterologist started the whole thing. I received a call last Friday from the hospital asking if I would like to participate. They sent me things to read online and on mychart. Thank goodness I knew the building to go to. Yale is so huge and spread out. That worried me the most. lol

That sounds like the kit my doctor gave me a couple of weeks ago. Only I didn't get the $175.
Using the kit was easy... just somewhat disgusting.

@DianneN If I have to look in the toilet bowl before flushing, it's disgusting... Have fun with your kit.

I refuse to have a fourth colonoscopy, ever. It's the worst test created, I will never go through it again. Your grandson is always having a good time, he enjoys doing fun things.

@kobesbuddy So they say. I have trouble walking into the ocean on a hot day like today.

@DianneN When my sister visited Finland, they would sit in a Sauna. Then, run out and jump into the icy water! I guess this was beneficial to their skin.

because of my health history and risk factors I was able to do Cologard, which sounds a lot like theitem you are doing in the trial. I did not, however, get paid. It is already on the market.

Yikes, One thing I will not do is another colonscopy study. Eliminating them sounds like an excellent idea though, Thanks for taking part!

Great photo. So you took a test like Cologuard. I had one this year. Usually clinical trials pay much more; but for what you had to do that's a great payment. I will take another Cologuard in 3 years and hopefully won't have to have another colonoscopy in my lifetime. Good luck with yours.

Good luck. It's easy, just lie in your side, no pain or discomfort and before you know it, you're done. The night before, cleaning out is a chore. Be sure you've transportation going and returning home. Summer camp, lots to enjoy!

@oahuwriter If I needed transportation, my insurance would pay for it. I’d rather be in my own car while the going’s good.

@ThatDisha No, I’m going for a real colonoscopy that was scheduled. lol
The study is to develop an accurate test to prevent a need for colonoscopies. All I had to do was give a blood sample, sign paperwork, and send in a stool sample.
