A Room With A View

"Checking in for Bauer. B-A-U-E-R."
I always spell it out for them so they don't confuse my German name with the British version, Bower.
I had booked my reservation on the Wydham website as I normally do. I am a diamond member you know, which affords me many, many rewards at the various Wyndham branded hotels.
This one was a Baymont Inn in Eau Claire, Wisconsin which I stayed in last night.
We went through the various protocols to get me checked in, and then she handed me my key card. "Your room will be 134."
"Wait," I said. "Is that on the 1st floor?"
She smiled as though she was offering me a major convenience, not having me drag my work stuff and bags up a flight of stairs. "Yes, it is."
"When I booked the room, I specifically requested the 2nd floor."
She looked into it and said that Wyndham did not send the special requests with the booking. No worries though, she had a room on the 2nd floor available.
With a view.
B*tch.
Actually she never added that part. I just thought I would toss that in for shock value. The room was 201, and even though the "view" is less than accommodating, I actually really like the room. It's very roomy, it is not facing the parking lot, has two windows...
I may actually request this room the next time I stay here. Although if my special requests did not come through the last time I doubt they will come through the next time.
So, getting back into room 201 is probably not going to happen. Oh well. Onward and upward.

The last time I was in Eau Claire it looked just like that. Some things don't change lol.
I'm glad they had another room. Next time request a specific room with the people at Baymont after coordinating with Wyndham. You may get your room.

I agree completely. You shouldn't have to double check your request.
The fact that you carry an exclusive membership makes it even worse.

@Vikingswest1 I just happen to think that part of the incentive of being a diamond member, the highest tier of membership, is being recognized for it and staff going the extra mile to make your experience all that much better.

I should not have to make an extra phone call. Not that being a diamond member is all that and a bag of chips, but you would think that when I book a room and it shows up at the hotel that I have booked, something should flag them to say...
"This is a guy who spends THOUSANDS of dollars with us. Take good care of him."
Otherwise, what's the point of me being a diamond member if no one recognizes it?

Well, if you think about it, the view could have been worse.

Are you sure you don't mean Bueller, Bueller, Bueller, Bueller... Amazing how even a easy sounding name can be scrwd... up!
Hey, not all bad, in a remarkable twist of fate, you got a room you really liked anyway

I once stayed in a hotel and requested a room with a view, and when I opened the blinds to look out the window, I was staring straight at a brick wall, about 2 feet away. The window faced the next building over, which was obviously built a little too close to the hotel for comfort.

I remember reading something from you recently with a similar issue. You requested that your room NOT be on the 1st floor and you got a room that was on the 1st floor. Was this the same hotel/motel?
Your view is actually not that bad. Could've looked out into an area with dumpsters.
