Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment. It's the one that's near the Texas Roadhouse. We only go there when I have a doctor's appointment because it's over 1/2 hour away.
TR has been running with a 25-minute wait since they have been short on staff. They said that people will work just long enough to get unemployment and then quit. Since they are running on short staff (as is a lot of the US), they can only open up a certain amount of tables...thus the long wait. We called to be on the wait list before we left the doctor's office; so we only had to wait about 10-15 minutes. Had my usual Chicken Critters dinner (chicken tenders), mashed potatoes, mixed veggies, salad and their terrific rolls and special butter.
We had torrential downpours around 6ish. Thankfully we had gotten off the freeway by then. I had a package from Walmart waiting on the porch when we returned home. Thankfully it wasn't anything that was damaged by the rain.
Today I have one of those focus group things about a condition that I have. It will be a one-hour phone discussion; and I will earn $100. Cool beans.
What's new with you?

@LindaOHio It looks like we had rain most of the night. Woke up to over an inch in the rain gauge.

Hopefully it will dry out some time today. Did you get any of the downpours there? I've been watching the radar; and it looked like you may have gotten some.

All those people who keep relying on those unemployment checks are going to be in for a rude awakening when that government money runs dry soon. We're having labor shortages here too, but it seems to mostly be in the fast-food and restaurant sector. Maybe that should be a wake-up call to these restaurants to start paying their people better, or at the very minimum start treating them better.

@LindaOHio Just think of the upward inflationary climb this is going to cause. Labor shortages mean that employers are going to have to offer higher wages in order to attract more applicants, which in turn will lead to higher prices. We are already seeing it with a lot of things, like food, housing and automobiles.

Yes, these people are definitely in for a rude awakening. Things are rough for the companies, restaurants, etc. that can't operate efficiently without a full staff.

The phone interview only lasted 1/2 hour which was even better; and it wasn't too stressful.

Nothing much. Pretty much recovered from the covid shot side effects. I did my laundry last night, so it’s rest up time! Got another golf tournament next weekend.
Love that picture!

What's new with me? Not a whole lot. I don't know if you remember this program or care about it but I made my hubby very happy when I found Connections by James Burk on you tube. It's a fascinating show about history and how things evolved.

It really stinks how the employment thing is going. We have seen that here too. Glad you didn't have to wait as long though. I would get that meal if I went there too, minus the veggies and salad of course lol

Yeah, businesses are really suffering because they can't get their work done efficiently because they can't get enough staff.
