My pulmonary nodule

Okay, so while we were on our way back from hubby's appointment, I got the call to tell me about my CT with contrast from yesterday. Refreshing your memory, I got referred to this because after my check up on Thursday my doctor had me get a CT with contrast of my carotid arteries. Carotids were clear, but they saw "something" in one of my lungs. So I went in Monday for a scan of my lungs. First thing--it does not appear to have grown. . . I would not have expected it to in four days, but oh well, thanks for that. From its size and location, they want to monitor it--just as I expected They will set me up an appointment in six months. Now what the nurse did mention, and I was kind of hoping to hear, is that they see some arthritis in my spine. I was told about this over twenty years ago. I am hoping at my next check up that I can talk to my doctor about that and see if she thinks it is causing the dizziness and numb arm. I think it is. So that is the update on me. How are you?

Usually good news when they say return in six months. Thanks for the update.

I hope it does not grow. I am about the way I have been. My right arm and shoulder continue to hammer on. Docs don't do much for me. Muscle relaxers have too many side effects so I refuse to deal with them.

Do you have "frozen shoulder"? Have they given you some exercises? I have muscle relaxeers on hand, and will take one about once or twice a month but not on a regular basis.

@sallypup I hear you on not seeing doctors. Until I had a mystery disease that temporarily stopped me doing blood donations. Diagnosis with diabetes kind of make me have to go more often. I have found recently that I can use voltaren gel as a topical pain relief. I cannot take it orally. Once upon a time I was told I had carpal tunnel, but symptoms went away when I got a paraffin bath for my hands. I wore one out. I do not like the one I have now, but consistent use does help symptoms.

@GardenGerty I am the worst patient ever cause I don't go to docs. Eons and eons ago I was told I had carpal tunnel. When I was a kid I broke that collar bone then when I was middle aged I hit the arm super hard and got a nasty contusion. In other words, that side of me is weak and prone to being cantankerous.

I'm surprised they didn't want to do a needle biopsy. The arthritis could be causing some stenosis in the cervical spine area which in turn could cause the dizziness, but I'm not a doctor, I only played nurses on TV.

They did not want to do a biopsy on hubby either. Or my brother, who also has similar. Yeah, I figure something is going on with my spine, but it really does not stop me from much.

If you've had that spinal arthritis for that long, you've managed it quite well. I hope they can find the cause of that dizziness and numb arm. Me - I'm "ok" - just trying to keep my health and energy up .

I think we all get arthritis as we age. I had much rather have it than degenerative disk disease. I have known too many people with that.

@GardenGerty True - just a part of aging. Right - I know so many with degenerative disk issues - very painful.

My husband had a CT with contrast yesterday at the hospital (he was rushed there because he had a mild heart attack) and they found a pulmonary nodule. It should be nothing serious, they are monitoring, he will be back in 6 months for another scan.

Oh my Anna, I am so sorry. Yeah, I think this is nothing myself. Hubby has one discovered "accidentally" as well.

Complaining often does not help. Yeah, it is a mixed bag. PT had asked if my back and hip had been x rayed, due to the pain I had, but we never had. I was hoping that if they did this CT it might show some of what is going on.

I think the nodule actually is some dust particles because we did some removal of old drywall without masks. Hubby has one as well. We "match"

Better today because I didn't get caught in the rain, which I'm happy about.

Heather you are a remarkably strong human being in my eyes. I am fine physically, am hurting emotionally as I have a sister-in-law who is nearing the end of her journey with cancer. That hurts my heart.

That is all good news overall since you knew about the arthritis already, If that is the cause maybe they can find a treatment.

it is good that they will be monitoring it. I think I may have an arthritis as my right hands are almost always a bit painful and less stronger than before

@gardengerty Doctors do like to monitor stuff they’re not too sure about. Mine told me he’d like to keep an eye on a lump once and I told him I’d been keeping my own eye on it and it hadn’t got better with that kind of treatment.

In my opinion this "nodule" is not causing any trouble, and no pain and it can just be left alone.
