I watch Food Network on Sunday mornings. Pioneer Woman is on from 10-11 and Valerie Bertinelli is on at 11:30. I like those shows. I do NOT like Molly Yeh's Girl Meets Farm which is on at 11 am. Still I wind up watching/listening to it because I am too lazy to get up and change the channel. Seriously though I don't understand how she still has this show. On today's episode she is making fried bologna sandwiches on Texas toast with pickle dip. Apparently pickle dip is a midwestern thing. She is even putting potato chips in the sandwich. I cannot believe what I am seeing. This looks like some stoned college kid's midnight snack. I can think of one myLotter who probably would love this sandwich though.

Not sure if you have it up there, but down here we can get dill veggie dip. It's probably the same / similar. I love a fried bologna sandwich but don't get the shows that just dress up the comfort / bare necessities and call it gourmet.

The pickle dip itself doesn't sound that bad. I don't eat bologna though so that part is gross. The whole combination seems very strange though.

@NJChicaa For that matter, why is everyone putting potato chips ON their sandwiches now?

@ScribbledAdNauseum I know that is a thing at Bobby Flay's burger chain Bobby's Burger Palace. He calls it "crunchified". It doesn't sound very good to me though.

I am a Midwesterner and have never had pickle dip. @Vandana7 knows how I feel about pickles. I did, however, experience jello with little caned fruits floating around inside.

We got some bologna in the monthly food giveaway program and had fried bologna sandwiches a couple of months ago. :-)

I love pickley but use it for other dishes. And I don´t use pickle "dips". I buy those small cucumber dill pickles to put on salads.

“Pickle dip” is probably a poor man’s dill dip (don’t have any dill in the house? Just use pickle juice!) I don’t know who would like fried baloney sammiches….. (Good thing he’s typing in his kitchen now and won’t have to walk far to feed the craving you flung on him! )

I’ve never had pickle dip, but fried bologna is good and potato chips and dill pickles squashed with a little Mayo is good on a bologna sandwich.

I had a friend who worked in a factory that made lunch meat. So I went on a tour of it one time. Don't think I can ever eat bologna again. But I know some people do enjoy it.

I can understand you. I don't think I would eat anything once I saw how it was made.

@ramapo17 Oh, that slimy pink goop in a vat....it made my guts just roll. Nope, nope nope. If and when I eat lunchmeat, it's reall turkey or real ham or real roast beef. I just can't help it.

Wouldn't pickle dip be the same as "relish" which I have been eating since a kid?
