Looks like we made it!

The power outage did actually take place but it did not start until after 11:00 p.m. last night. At 4:12 a.m. the power came back on. They did not do too badly. Outdoor temperatures were mild and we had cooled our room off in the early evening. We have a small, battery powered fan. I think I missed the noise of the a/c and my usual fan the most. Oh, and the nightlights I have for navigating in the dark. I am glad they got it done before school actually started.

We had the same two years ago, they did a major work on the electric lines. We were 4 hours without power during the night.

Our time was five hours. Not too bad.

@GardenGerty They announced a power cut from midnight to 6 A.M., but we had the power back 2 hours in advance.

We often take our energy infrastructure for granted, not realizing that it gets old and worn out just like everything else, and must be updated, repaired and replaced on a recurring basis. Just be glad they got the work done that needed to be done.

@moffittjc It does not happen too often during school hours, but it is frustrating to all others affected.

The town where I work, served by the same company, has outages a lot.

@GardenGerty That has to be really frustrating, especially for a business.

If they turned the power off, and worked at night, how did they see what they were doing?

I would hate for it to be done at night here. I would have nothing to do while laying here I wouldn't be able to sleep for fear oxygen would run out and I wouldn't know. The other 2 here would be asleep in their room It would just be easier for me during day light. Last time electric went out during night, early morning my daughters phone didn't wake her for work on time for some reason

For some I am sure being at night was a problem. The thing is it is much hotter in the daytime. That is strange that her alarm did not work. I am usually up before my alarm anyway.

This one was planned so we could be prepared. We have had shorter outages in the past.

I had rather hve it planned and they make needed repairs than to have the power station burn up and take weeks to fix.

At least there are no worries associated with that part. There could be a random outage from wildlife or something, but that does not happen often.

At least it is done now. If you are used to certain noises, then it can be distracting when they're not there.

It was odd to be laying there and anticipating the outage. It would have woken me up even if I had not known about it.
